I cruised December 2004 and while onboard purchased 2004 cruise-themed scrapbook materials (scrapbook, stickers, papers etc). This is my first (and probably only) scrapbook (I'm just now getting to it). I have looked at many layouts on other sites but would like to see anything using the Disney cruise specific papers and cutouts. I need ideas. So far everything is printed paper-colored background-photo on every page. I'm feeling helplessly uncreative and need help! I have already organized my photos and momentos into reasonable amounts but the layouts seem so blah. Thanks!

Sorry I can't direct you to a site where you can see my cruise pages since they aren't loaded anywhere. I did use the DCL materials along with other stuff when I did our 2003 cruise. My pages run the range from pretty simple to wallpapered and embellished.

This being your first book (I wouldn't say only since we know how addictive this little hobby is once one gets started :cool1: ) you probably want to keep it pretty simple.

Since your photos are organized you may only want to stop by your LSS (local scrapbook store) to pick up some plain cardstock in colors that will work with the various photos. For instance blues perhaps for pool shots, the hot colors at Parrot Cay, etc. And maybe some general tropical or cruise related borders, stickers, that sort of thing to go along with the DCL items you have.

Consider simple borders on the outside edges (when I first started I used a LOT of the boarder sticker strips) and a single mat under the photos. Then insert the DCL and other stickers on the pages to fill in unwanted blank space after you journal. Remember to journal though - either straight on the pages or on journal blocks.

Have fun!

I appreciate the response. I am going for simple.

I have one more question: do you place two pages in one plastic pocket (one facing one way and the other facing the next page) or are you supposed to put one per pocket? the binder I have has 15 plastic sleeves, so is this 30 pages or only 15?

Can I just Elmers glue these things down or do I have to buy special, expensive glue?

I promise you I'm not as daft as I sound! Just don't have any guidance on this. Am reading lots here and on the peabucket site as well.

Generally a plastic sleeve (page protector) would house 2 pages - it could be two separate sheets but most of us would work on the front and back of the same sheet.

If you have the 12 x 12 version make sure you keep the pages oriented exactly as they came out of the sleeve originally as they are not true 12 x 12 . I learned this the hard way when I finished both sides of a page and it wouldn't fit back in with the proper orientation - I had to put it so the layout looked sideways!

You don't want to use Elmer's glue. Stop by a local hobby store like Michael's or Hobby Lobby and check out their scrapbook section. You will probably want photo mounting squares for most things, and they range in price but I generally buy mine at HL for about $3.99 for 500 squares. The other type of adhesive you might want is tape runner - again HL has this from Pioneer for $1.99 a roll. This would be used for larger items that are harder to adhere with mounts.

So my friends let me borrow a ton of things and I have gotten started. My favorite thing is the little paper slicer. I LUV it. That and the corner rounder punch.

My least favorite thing is that Fiskar round-cutter and templates. I must be doing something wrong. I have these orange plastic templates for all sort of shapes. My friend told me to place the photo on the self healing mat, then put the template on top and then use the cutter. But the mat slides, the photo slides, the template slides and the cutter goes flying across the photo instead of around the shape. I ruined one photo already. I resorted to standing up and pressing down on everything and I am still not doing it right. It's just so HARD to cut out the shapes. It doesn't cut smoothly. Ugh. I'm glad I did not buy all this stuff.

but I have made a few pages but not glued them down. My friend recommended double sided tape.

thanks for the help. I'll be glad when I'm done.
