Hi.
Our use year is going to start in Feb 2004 (SSR). If I book trips for Dec 2004 using all my points, and I then want to book another trip 11 months out in say...June 2004 for May of 2005. Will I be able to do that or will I have to wait until my Feb 2005 use year date to book my new points. Does this make sense? I hope so, I really want to know.

You can make a reservation eleven months out for points that will be in your account when you travel. If you'll need to borrow from 2006 to take the trip, they will do that when you book.

So say you have 150 points and a Feb use year. You book a Dec 2004 trip with 147 points eleven months out.

You can book a January trip with 3 2004 points and borrowed 2005 points, booking 11 months out.

You can bank the 3 points and use them for a trip in March with your 2005 points, booking 11 months out

You book at 11 months out, and the points used will be from the appropriate use year.

common misconception:
that Use Year determines when you can book your reservations.

NOT true...

just don't think about your Use Year, and calculate when you book your reservations by subtracting 11mos or 7mos.

don't worry, lots of new DVCers get confused about this...

Thanks for the answers guys, exactly what I wanted to know!

Thank you for asking that question Juls!!

I have been pondering that same questions for a few weeks now.
(I also have a Feb use year at SSR)
So if I understand correctly...I can book a vacation for April 2005 in May of 2004...even though I have no points at that time ( I will have used all of my 2004 points for a vacation in Oct 2004 ...hopefully)

Did I say that right???? LOL
