Newbie $$ question

I have my first cruise booked this summer (yay!!). I know that everything on the ship can be charged to the room, but what about stuff on Nassau and CC? (I have a 4 night cruise booked.) I'm trying to budget the amount of cash I'll need to bring with me, and I don't know if I'll need cash for either of these ports or any other areas (Port Canaveral, etc.). Thanks!

congrats on booking your first cruise! You will love it! You are correct that anything on board the ship will be charged to your onboad account and that includes any excursions you book online. Also, anything on Castaway Cay that you purchase will also be charged to your account. When you are in other ports (outside of any excursions you have booked thru DCL - those are charged to your account) you will need to pay out of pocket, including any tips.

Purchases on Castaway Cay work just like purchases on the ship and are applied to your onboard account. In Nassau, only the cost of any excursions booked through Disney will be charged to your account. You will need cash or credit cards for any other purchases in Nassau and also for tips for any excursion personnel even if you booked the excursion through Disney. Any purchases in Port Canaveral will not be charged to your onboard account either but there's not much to purchase in the Disney terminal itself.

US dollars are readily accepted and the best part is the exchange rate is locked at 1-to-1 so there's never any conversion to figure out.

If you want to use the post office on Castaway Cay they only accept cash. Its a bahamian post office so it won't be charged to your on board account.
