Newbie Question

I'm a regular Disney traveler, but I'm taking my mother with me for the first time. She has multiple replaced joints and back and feet issues. Thanks to all the great advice here, I got her to agree to use a scooter to get around, but she will be using her cane at times to get around at times. On most of the rides she wants to go on she can just hold her can or lay it down on the floor, but we were trying to figure out what to do with it for Pirates and Star Tours. Any suggestions?

For Pirates, she would be able to lay it on the floor. There is one drop, but it is not that big.

For Star Tours, she would be able to leave it with the CM and have it brought back when the ride is over.
