Newbie question

Hi, a very newbie question, I am sure, but please help. I am worried. I bought 50 points at BWV that come with 100 2008 points and a uy of March. Do I need to use those points by March or lose them? Can I still bank them? Closing probably won't be until Jan 5 - just passed RORF. I was looking at the reservation board and it didn't have a closed dates sticky for March at all. Does that mean those dates have not been reported closed?

Since you will no longer be able to bank those points by the time the sale goes through you will need to use them by 2/28/09 or lose them. You will only be able to use them at the DVC resorts or at Disneyland since you will be within the last 4 months of your Use Year.

Not sure how you bought a "50" point contract but then the contract comes with "100" 2008 points since a 50 point contract can have only 50 2008 points. If in fact there are March 2008 points in the contract then you should consider having the seller bank them since the last date they can be banked is Nov 30, 2008. If there are 50 March 2008 points and, to get to 100 existing points, there are 50 points that have already been banked into the 2008 year from March 2007 year, or borrowed from the March 2009 year into the 2008 year, then even the seller cannot bank those extra points as points already banked or borrowed cannot be banked into the next year and must be used for a trip that ends Feb 28, 2009 or forever be lost.

Unfortunately you are past the banking deadline for points that are actually from March 2008 Use Year allotment since March 2008 Use Year points needed to be banked by October 31 2008 which is the end of 8th month of that Use Year. So you need to use those points by Feb 28 2009 unless MS makes an exception for you when the purchase is complete but I would not count on that.

Also as pp drusba mentions if points were banked into or borrowed into
March 2008 Use Year then those particular points must remain in 2008 Use Year to be utilized by Feb 28 2009. Anytime points are banked into an upcoming UY or borrowed into preceding UY they must remain in the Use Year that they are banked or borrowed into.
