Newbie Question re. Add-Ons

We are interested in buying DVC and have done a lot of reading on these boards. I see a lot of members have small add-on contracts either at their home resort or they purchased smallcontracts at another resort. What is the real benefit of buying at multiple resorts? We're thinking of buying 200 points, but now I'm wondering if we should by 150 at one resort and a say 50 at another. I guess I'm looking for a good expanation for the benefits of adding-on.

most of my points are at OKW - and I do love it.

but for Dec - I like VWL - because Dec is so popular I needed to own at VWL to insure getting my reservations for VWL.

for BWV - it is during the food/wine festavial.
