Hi - can someone give me a quick rundown on how Photopass works - first visit in 10 years so haven't experienced it - are there roaming photographers and a central point where you can view pix or a website or what?
Thanks!
One week, three days to go.....
(DH 7th visit, Me 4th visit, DS 9 and 6 first-ever1 )
PhotoPass people are usually dressed in a sort of khaki-dark blue ensemble. They tend to wear dark blue pants or shorts (I saw a skirt or two as well), and white shirts and then some some sort of khaki vest or jacket. I have seen blue jackets as well. They are usually perched in certain regular locations around DL and DCA, i.e., in front of the Partners statue, in front of the Castle, on Main Street, sometimes with characters, in front of the Golden Gate Bridge in DCA, over in the Paradise Pier area of GCH, by the Sun fountain, by Grizzly Peak, etc., etc. They also pop up in different places here and there too. Just look for dark blue shorts/pants/skirts!
You can get a PP card (it's free) from any of the PP photographers when you have your first picture taken, or they also have them on the front desk of the three DLR hotels. When you have your picture taken the first time, the photographer will scan the back of your card and hand it back to you. You then hand that same card to any other PP photographers you see and they will all scan it every time pictures are taken. Make sure to ask each and every one of them for any 'magic shots' they have, because sometimes they don't tell you. You want as many Disney 'enhancements' as possible, as well as nice regular shots.
When you get home from your trip, take the card and begin an online PhotoPass account. You have 30 days from when the first PP picture was taken to start the account. Enter in the code from the back of the card. All of your photos will appear. You can then edit them to your heart's content, saving each version as a new picture. You will see different borders and effects, you can try black and white, close-up, cropping, etc. You then have and additional 30 days from when you started the online account to complete your edits. You can literally get hundreds (even as many as 2000!) on one account, and when you order the CD online, it will be $59.95 plus $7.00 shipping for U.S. orders (international orders are different for shipping totals), and $19.95 for extra copies of the CD.
It is a great service, and if you don't like any of the pictures taken when you view them at home, you don't have to buy a thing!! You can even share them with your family and friends via e-mail and it is still free. You just have to buy something from them to keep your account active. If you don't, then they will delete your photos after 30 days from when you create your account. I have lots of PP pictures in my Trip Report (link in my signature below) from Halloweentime and Christmastime. Actually, in my signature, the giant Mickey pumpkin picture and the giant candy corn picture are both PhotoPass, as is the one in front of the Sun fountain! There is also the sticky thread: "Photopass Poses: the Cheesier the Better," where you can go and make notes of all the poses/locations/effects/enhancements you want for yourself so you know what to ask for at DLR!
Have FUN!!!
