Just added to Disney system from a resale and waiting for points to be added. I want to get a 2 BDR unit in August of 11. From reading the forum it seems like there are 2 types, one is a studio connected to make the 2 brm and one that is not. Is the one that is not with the studio, called dedicated and how many do they have of these? Many in HH catagory? Looking to book around Aug 18th.

Most of the time when you book at two bedroom villa at OKW, you get a dedicated. They like to save the lockoffs for people booking a one bedroom and a studio. But you can request the lockoff if you have a reason to get that.

According to a post by Webmaster Doc there are 274 Dedicated 2BR units and 230 lockoff 2BR units at OKW.
He doesn't break it down for units in HH area. My best guess would be 50 -60 dedicated 2 BR units would be in the HH area buildings.

Hi all,
First of all hello from the UK.
A bit of background first - We have been to WDW as a family 4 times in the last 8 years and have stayed off-site twice and on-site twice, both times on-site at Coronado Springs Resort (CSR)
Now CSR has been great up to now but we are family of 6 and have always had to book 2 rooms to get us all in and I notice that OKW could give us a better solution.
Our configuration is 2 adults (well my wife and I) 1x18 y/o daughter, 3 x boys, aged 16,14 & 12. Up to now we have shared our room with our daughter and the 3 boys have shared the beds in the other room, next time however we would like to have a room to ourselves, for our daughter to have a bed to herself and for the boys to have a bed each.
What I believe we need then is:
1 x Kingsize bed for my wife and I
2 x Queen beds for 2 x boys
1 x Double sofa bed for 1 x girl
1 x Single sofa chair for 1 x boy. This will probably end up being moved to the room that has the 2 x Queen beds in it, therefore all 3 boys will sleep in the same room, they are happy to do that just not to sleep in the same bed anymore!

I "think" is a configuration that is possible in the newly renovated OKW 2 bedroom units.

Could anyone please confirm if I have understood the layout correctly.

Thanks. :thumbsup2

You can't move the sleeper chair from the living room into the bedroom. It is too large to go through the doorways without damaging the room and floor as you are moving it. Plus it is very heavy. One of the boys will have to sleep in the living room or share a bed with one of the other boys.

The sleeper sofa in the living room is queen sized.

We have stayed before the renovations with 7 adults and 1 child (not really just a petite teenage girl). There is pleanty of room for all. At nearly 1400 sq. ft of living space you will not be bumping into each other. The last time my boys all slept in the living room. They were 21 and 19 at the time and had a friend with them also 19. There was not a single complaint from any ot them. They were just happy to be there and one of them slept on couch cushions he put together. No way was DD going to share a bed with one of her brothers. This time, we go in May after one of my DSs graduates from college.

HI and thanks for the reply, not good news though.
Might need a re-think then. If only they made the single sofa chair light enough to move to another room.

If they had made it light enough to move, it would not be comfortable at all. Sofa beds and sleeping chairs are very heavy and large to be as comfortable as possible.

The chair is in a corner not really close to the sofa bed, I would think they would be fine.

If not take an inflatible bed and put in on the floor for the boy.

First of all, there is no double sleep sofa bed in an OKW 2 bedroom. There is a queen sized pull out sofa bed in the living room, as well as the pull out twin sized chair.

As noted, you wont be able to move the sleeper chair from ANY DVC resort into another room without a lot of trouble. My suggestion would be to let the boys have the living room. One can sleep on the pull out queen sized sofa bed, one can sleep on the twin sized pull out chair, and one can make a bed either on the love seat or using the cushions from the sofa. We did this in the past with young people. Once we had 2 teen boys and a 20 somthing who shared the living room at OKW BEFORE they had the sleeper chair in them. One used the sofa bed, one slept on the love seat, and one slept on the cushions from the sofa. That way the girl gets 2 queen beds to herself, but she also gets a bathroom to herself.

If you stay any other DVC resort, you will have the same issue, except that your space will be smaller, and there will NOT be a love seat in addition to the sofa bed and sleeper chair.

Thanks for the advice - I see that I may have caused a bit of confusion in as much us us Brits rarely call beds King size, Queen Size etc we just call a bed that is big enough to sleep 2 people in a Double, it does not mean 2 beds to us lot over on this side of the pond :lmao: Hope that makes sense.
What we will probably end up doing is my wife and I will be in the room with the Kingsize bed, 2 sons in the 2 Queen Size beds, Daughter on the pull out Queen size sofa bed and that leaves us with 1 son who will either sleep on the cushions from the chair and we will bring with us a blow up mattress and pump for him to sleep in the same room as the 2 boys. It will be his choice then.
I hope that I have understood everything - OKW looks like a great place to stay, if anyone else has any tips/tricks then please let me know.

That will work there is enough room on the floor in the second bedroom to make up a palet on the floor.

The gurgling suitcase has the best bartenders on property. Don't forget to check out the lighthouse and the boatride to DTD is so relaxing. OKW does not share a bus with any of the other resorts and be sure to try the tropical bread at olivias. There is no grocery store on disney property so if you are cooking either stop before getting to the resort or order online. Ther are a couple of places that deliver for a small fee.
