Hi All,

Bought into a small block of points at SSR during my last trip to Disney and now I'm looking into purchasing more on the second hand market.

I have 50 points at SSR. Say I purchase 50 more at AKL. My understanding would be that during the 11 month window I could book at either SSR or AKL but even though I own a total of 100 points, I could only book a ressie that uses 50 of the points allocated to that home resort (without borrowing or banking) and I'd have to modify at the 7 month window to leverage the remaining 50 points?

Somewhat confusing...wicked psyched about my purchase though!

From the member website:
If you have more than one Home Resort:
In order to take advantage of the Home Resort Priority Period, all Vacation Points used to make that reservation must be associated with your Home Resort.

An example of Home Resort Priority:
If, say, you want to make a reservation at Disney's Vero Beach Resort that requires 100 Vacation Points but you have 200 Vacation Points at Disney's Saratoga Springs Resorts & Spa and 50 Vacation Points at Disney's Vero Beach Resort, you don't have enough "Vero Beach" Vacation Points to qualify for the Home Resort Priority Period. However, as a Disney Vacation Club Member, you do have the options to:
  • Use your 200 "Saratoga Springs" Vacation Points to book a vacation during the Home Resort Priority Period at Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, or
  • Borrow "Vero Beach" Vacation Points to secure your reservation during the Home Resort Priority Period for Disney's Vero Beach Resort.

Thanks!

We can't access the member website until we close (just mailed in the deposit). It's funny...we were able to call make make reservations for our summer trip but we can't access the member website...kind of seems backwards :)

Another question...

I get the use year importance...but just as a general question if I DO buy a second hand batch of points with a different use year, how much of a pain in the **** will I be acquiring? There are some really great deals out there, but not all of them apply to my use year...

TIA,
Steve

Here's a link to a current thread on the DVC Operations Board discussing that very question. Multiple Contract Use Year Question Thread

A different UY is a completely different membership. You won't be able to combine the points between the two contracts for a single nights reservation without a transfer.

If you book whole nights with one contract and whole nights with the other, you will have to link the reservations to ensure you stay in the same room.

IMO, with small contracts, having a different UY is more difficult. We own two UY's now, but the contracts are 150 and 180 so big enough to allow us to treat them as their own.
