Using DME for the first time on Thanksgiving - We have our yellow luggage tags, I understand that we attach them to our suitcases, but I am also wondering - do we also need to fill out and attach the airline carriers luggage tags( the ones where you fill out your name) on our bags also? This is only my third time flying with a checked bag and first with DME so I just want to make sure we're doing things correctly. Ty

I don't know if you have to have both tags but I can tell you that it won't hurt to have 2 tags on your bag, there is always a chance one can come off (I have lost many tags over the years). I also put identification inside my checked bags for that same reason, I put my name, address, cell phone number on it along with other pertinent info that I feel is necessary which depends on where my trip will be. A locked bag can be opened and if the information is in the bag, it can be returned to its owner. I have to say that I have only had 2 "misplaced" bags over 35 years of traveling and both were found and delivered to me, one was sent on another plane due to weight restrictions on the flight so lots of people didn't get their bags, the other time I filled out the lost bag form but in the meantime when the bag was not collected in a timely manner at the wrong airport where it had been sent, they had opened it, found my information, contacted the proper airport and it was delivered to me the next day at my hotel.

By the time your bags are put on the plane, each bag should have three tags.

You should always have an identification tag on the outside of any bag you check (and preferably on the inside too). Most passengers have a permanent tag on each bag, but airlines offer temporary paper tags if you need them.

When you check in at your home airport, the counter agent or skycap will put airline routing tags on your bags. These will allow your airline to send your bags to Orlando International (MCO). Make sure the destination says MCO.

The yellow DME tags just allow DME to transfer your bags from Orlando International to your WDW resort room.

When you're at your WDW resort, remove the airline routing tag and the yellow DME tag, but leave the identification tag.

I will say that I don't put a lot ofvinfonon my luggage tags. I put our lady name and our email address, sometimes a phone number. I don't like having my address out there.
