This Christmas my husband surprised our almost 4 year old and i with a disney world and disney land resorts trading pin tin. It contained a really neat light up lanyard and 10 various pins from both parks.
It was one of the highlights of our christmas gifts, he knew that when we stood in line for characters or things like that we were always commenting on the pins that cast memebers were wearing, so he thought it would be a fun gift to start us out trading.
January 6 was the first chance we had to begin our newest hobby. The night before we went through our pins (20 of which came with the tin the other 20 were ones i ordered from eBay from a GREAT seller cgary119) and decided which ones we were going to trade and which ones we wanted to keep for now. We came up with about 20 pins we wanted to trade and then narrowed it down to five for the day.
While my husband was checking in for his segway tour DD and I were chit chatting with one of the half marathon workers and DD was showing her her pins. I mentioned that she had never traded before and today was going to probably begin an obsession for her. This CM called over the dream team standing there and let them know that DD had never traded before all of a sudden DD had 4 people to choose from. She was in awe.
As the day wore on i traded for a few and she ended up trading all of hers around some more than once. We met a manager outside of the figment meet and greet that was willing to give DD one of the minnie cuties since she wanted to trade for her donald and the manager didn't want to make her choose but DD insisted the trade.
There were also several cast members who asked if i was ok with her trades because she was trading CM lanyard pins and things of that nature for what was to them an uneven trade but i assured them that she was trading what was allowed and things were ok.
I know lately there have been complaints of many CMs only having cuties or the cheap knock offs but i have to say that we helped do our part in adding some CM pins and other odds and ends to the lanyards that i know were probably traded quickly. I ended up with a neat pirates pin that was a sull and snakes as well as a pirate donald that has a hidden mickey. So while I am sure there are some seasoned traders out there thay maybe frustrated with the trading i think for two newbies we did well. The conversations and the lessons in trading that my daughter learned were priceless as well.
Can't wait to get back and trade somemore!
