Newbie-on-board, info needed...

Hi all! I'm new to these boards and you guys and gals use some acrynyms that I'm not familiar with, can someone fill me in?

What is DW, DH, DS, BS (just kidding) etc....

I assume it's something to do with a Husband, Daughter, etc., but I just can't figure it out. Don't worry, when you tell me what it is, I'll say "Duh!" to myself so you don't have to.

I think D is for Darling...on these boards...when you use it in front of H for hubby it means Doofus....LOL (just kidding)

I think there is a place on the baords that have explinations of all the little codes...I think its in Technical Support.

welcome, imtigger2!. You'll love these boards but you are correct. To get it you must know that the "duh" answer is 'Dear', as in Dear Wife, Dear Husband etc. If the poster is getter really creative you can find the 'IL', which would be 'In-Law'. And mustn't forget the occasional 'G' as 'Granddaughter'. And so on and so on. If you already know "BTW" and "IMHO" you are way ahead of where most of us started.

Now the one that really makes me chuckle when used out of the originators intended meaning is 'DS' ---- I've read opening threads on the CB where people are stating their dissappointment in DS ---- [Dear Son - right?]. Well - the topic goes on and on talking about their shopping trip to The Disney Store and I am waiting to read what DS [Dear Son] did to upset them! Only to realize that they are actually upset with DS[Disney Store] and their topic has nothing to do with anyone's son! The intended abbreviation for The Disney Store is TDS but some people use DS and that is when it becomes confusing at times.

The first poster I saw using these said that she had to "... drag my DH to the parks..."

I don't know WHY, but I thought, "Dead Husband?.. what the?!.."

Will this be your 1st cruise? If so, my wife and I felt that it made for a PERFECT Honeymoon in 1999 on the Wonder. All the stress of the wedding, the running around, etc. were all put to rest with our arrival at the ship.

As well, it's a perfect time to get more great photos of you two. Don't forget to make a point of getting your picture taken by the on-board photographers. The pics are pricey, but we're glad we got them, memories that are part of the wedding... about 4-5 8x10 and some others. They make a perfect addition to a wedding album.

If you can, splurg for the Veranda, it really is VERY romantic. We had champane and strawberries while watching the sun set on the way out of port. It was great.
