Hi everyone!

I am new to the Disboards community, but not new to Disney :) I am sorry if this question has already been asked, but here goes. My husband and I are planning on renting points to the Beach Club Villas in September. If free dining comes out, are we still able to get it being that we are renting the points?
Another question is where is the best place to get Disney tickets? We usually go through AAA travel agency to get all our stuff, but I am trying to do it myself this year. Any info/help would be so appreciated.

Thanks so much!

No you cant. Free dining is through WDTC, it has nothing to do with DVC. If you get free dining you have to get at least a one day base ticket so you might as well get tickets from disney. If not you can use AAA or undercovertourist

Thanks for your reply, but I am still a little confused. If I get tickets through Disney, can I get the free dining? Is the dining based on the room, or the tickets? I am not going through DVC to rent the points, but through another agency.Sorry I sound so confused, but like I said this is the first time for me doing this on my own :)

It's based on the room as part of a package. The number of meals you get on the dinning plan (free or paid for) are based on the number of nights of your stay. The one day base ticket is the minimum you can add to your room to make it a 'package' and thus qualify for the free dinning when it's offered.
I seriously considered renting points from a DVC member, and may in the future, but instead got a 40% off room offer, and when I factored in the value of mousekeeping to me (DVC only does housekeeping once every 4 days) the trust factor w/ a stranger (especially with so many people being unemployed - how could I be sure they were current in their payments and maintenance fees) and what the going rate was to rent points, I felt the 40% off deal was best for me. In fact, 40% off AKL savannah view 2 rooms from disney was cheaper than a 1 bdrm @ going rental prices from a DVC member, as I recall (tho' I booked the Poly.)
Enjoy your planning. Use the WDW website to price out all of your alternatives and watch for codes. Free dinning is a better deal for larger families @ values, % off deals better for deluxes like you are thinking of, usually. This year you really should be able to find a discounted vacation - so it pays to read and read.

THank you so much for your reply. I will keep looking for codes since my husband and I haven't booked yet. We are waiting for Southwest to come out with their flight schedule. When that comes out we will be all ready to book!

YAY DISNEY!

YAY DISNEY!

Most DVC members who rent points to others have a no refund policy. They are willing to rebook a trip for the renters, but do not return the money.

If you book this way, and free dining comes out, canceling out of that original deal with a DVC member could be difficult. Be sure you understand what the owners policy is before jumping in.

In the past, the announcement for free dining in the fall has come out in early April. RUMOR has it that it will be announced March 30th. If that is what you are hoping for, I would definitely hold off on doing the DVC rental.

Good luck!!!
