We are planning our first ever trip to WDW the last week of July. We are pretty sure we are getting the dining plan. Our group is myself, my husband, and our 9-yr-old son. What are some must-not-miss restaurants? We are staying 5 nights at the Caribbean Beach Resort. We will have park hopper passes. We would like at least one character breakfast that a boy would like.

Thanks for any and all suggestions! :earsgirl:

For a character breakfast- Donald's Breakfastosaurus at Animal Kingdom is great. Make sure you make priority seating for first thing in the morning- it fills up quick.

At MGM- Sci-Fi Theater is great! Nice atmosphere, excellent food! You sit in a car to eat, and watch clips of old Sci-Fi movies. The milkshakes are a must have.

Have fun!

My son (12) and daughter (9) love going to Chef Mickey at the Contemporary. I think they have breakfast, we go for the dinner seating. If you do go to the dinner seating get a priority seating, then after dinner go out on the balcony at the far end of the hotel and watch the fireworks from M.K. it's a great way to end a perfect day. Also go to Whispering Canyon Rest. at the Wilderness lodge, have your son ask for Ketchup for his french fries from the waitress or waiter and have your camera ready. You will end up with every bottle of ketchup from all the tables. Do not let him know what is going to happen, it's priceless. Have fun at the cbr we'll be at the pop the same time.

Have you checked out www.allearsnet.com ? They have menus from all of the different restaurants. Welcome to the Dis, and have a great trip! :flower:

Thanks for the responses so far, everybody! The Whispering Canyon sounds great. This is the kind of stuff I never would have found out about without this board! Y'all are great!

I have the Unofficial Guide by Bob Sehlinger and I've been poring over it like a madwoman. I am having so much fun planning this trip! What does everybody think of these places? These are some that seem popular! I haven't checked to see if they are on the dining plan yet; I'll do that as I narrow down my choices.

Ohana at the Polynesian
Boma at AK
California Grill at the Contemporary
Le Cellier at Epcot
Cinderella's Royal Table at MK
Jiko at AK
The Hollywood Brown Derby at MGM
Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary

I want to plan our sit-down meals first (dinners), then I'll look at our lunches. Anything else I'm missing?

Glad to hear you are having so much fun planning your trip...as you will find that becomes almost as fun as the trip itself.....thats why the thousands of us Disers are on here EVERYDAY!!! Anyway....I just wanted to caution you to the fact that I noticed on your dinners you had Jiko and California Grill, these take 2 credits from your dining plan....not sure about all of the others. You may have been aware of this already but I just thought I'd give a heads up just in case. However, all of the places you listed are wonderful...I've been to CG, Le Cellier, Jiko and CRT and they were all great. Have a wonderful trip. :wave2:
