Newbie Membership Number Question

I am a former blue card member, resale from 2009, but was only on the account and not the account holder who decided to sell a couple years ago. I am in the process of buying my first resale contract now. Will Disney use my previous member number, will I be assigned a new one, do they need to know I was previously a member? I assume not, but figured it doesn’t hurt to ask!

You’ll have a new membership because the owners are different. Anytime the owners on a contract are different from the owners on another contract, a new membership is created.

And it sounds like you might have been an Associate Member. If that was the case, that would be another reason your new contract will be a new membership.

To add m you won’t be eligible for membership extras as those were tied to that contract being purchased prior to the change in 2016.

That rule applies to even direct contracts bought. if someone sells the contract that made them eligible and sells it, the eligibility for the extras goes away.

Even if you still held that contract, it would be a new membership, because the ownership is different. They might match it up in the system with a drop-down. You know, Disney IT.

But you are not a current member, and maybe never were?

Thanks all, this is really helpful. I guess nothing at all from that previous membership will carry over or tie to the new membership.
Not being a member for a few years I had no idea on the update to digital cards and when I just went to DLR in February I was flashing my old blue card everywhere and no even said anything, haha. It wasn’t until my AUL visit last month that the CM said they don’t use those anymore and I needed to get the digital copy. Thankfully was still nice enough to give me the discount on that purchase.
