Newbie looking for last minute cruise deals

Hi all! I'm new here! This boards looks so cool.

Anywho, I'm looking to schedule a last minute cruise, like for the middle of February 2005. Will I get killed in pricing or do I stand a chance of getting a last minute deal. If deals are to be had, what travel agent would have them?

Also, do you know what the age cut off for babies is? Is it 8 weeks or 12 weeks?

You are probably better to wait anyway. Disney pricing is different than most vacation packages. The price actually increases as more rooms are sold, have never read about a last minute deal on DCL. Best to book as soon as possible to get a great rate.

Thanks for the advice. I wasn't sure taking a baby so young was a good idea anyway. We just need a vacation, if you know what I mean. And, our daughter starts kindergarten in September, so this would be the last chance for an off-season vacation. No biggie. I'll start planning one Summer 2006, which was my original plan anyway.

Last minute deals are definitely possible and most common on off-peak cruises. Of 3 DCL cruises, I've booked 2 inside of 60 days of sailing at the same rate offered for earlier bookers. Problem is the dates, rooms, and dining choices are slim picking when you book at the last minute. A recent example is I saw the inside rate for the 12/11/04 Eastern I was on go from ~$1100 to $800 a few weeks prior to the cruise, but there were no more inside rooms available for a family of 4.

For dates more likely to sell out, you'll probably pay more as the sail date approaches.

The best discounts I've seen are for folks working in the airline industry through perx.com.
