5 of us...Myself, my DD's (18 & 15) and 2 Friends also 15 are planning on spending 1 day at UO Easter week. My intention is to buy the 1 day 2 park ticket with our main focus on HP! I am a single mother living on a VERY tight budget but would like to splurge & spend 1 or 2 nights at a universal Hotel.

Originally, I thought I'd do 2 nights at Cabana Bay & that would give us EE to HP. But now I'm wondering if I should do 1 night instead in a deluxe to get the EP since its Easter week. I know the EP pass can't be used at some of the HP rides but it might allow us the opportunity to got on more non HP rides.

So I guess my question is, am I better off doing 2 nights at cabana and focus on HP or 1 night at RPR to get express pass? For the record, we have never been to UO and can't imagine we'd get back anytime soon. So this is our one shot at it!! TIA!!

I think for what you have in mind...one day in the parks....staying one night at a Deluxe and getting express passes would work best. You'd really be able to do quite a few more things than just HP with the ability to skip some lines.

During Easter Week, I highly recommend staying at a deluxe with express passes. You'll get two full days of express passes with 1 night's stay, so you might want to reconsider those 1 day admission tickets.

There are lots of people who think they will never go back to Universal and they end up never going back to WDW!

stay at deluxe one night and get two days of express unlimited usage.
move to Cbay for the second night stay.

Deluxe with EP for sure, especially on a short visit. I haven't found that EE is all that much of an advantage for the rides because everyone is heading to the same place. That being said, I think a 15 - 20 minute posted wait on either FJ or Gringotts is ideal for first timers so you can take your time going through. IMO, much of the Forbidden Journey and Gringotts experience is the pre ride stuff. Also, we found shorter stand by waits at the HP sections in the hours before closing. It seems like everyone goes there first. l highly recommend Diagon Alley after dusk.
