Hi there am looking to all you wise people to advise me on going to DLRP on my own with two children aged 6 and 4. Would I be mad to consider taking them on my own?

I am planning on going 2nd to 5th April which seems to be outside most school holidays but is holiday time here. We would be flying from Belfast to CDG and then planning on getting the TGV, at present I am considering either the Sequoia Lodge in a Montana room or the Admirals Floor at Newport Bay - which would be the best option as I keep reading dodgy reviews of both.

My main concern is would there be a problem going on the rides if there is only one adult and two children. I wouldn't want to go and find that we were restricted on what we could go on.

Thanks

Kathryn

Hi,

Don't worry about the rides - you won't be restricted. I took my daughter and niece on my own at Christmas time last year, we went on everything all together, no problem at all.

I usually take my daughter on my own to DLRP, and in some ways, it was actually easier having my niece along - they could chatter away to their hearts content, and play pretend while waiting for Candleabration etc to start (I'm up for most things, but don't think I would have been that enthralled at playing "pretend" Minnie to DD's Daisy for 15 minutes outside Caseys Corner :rotfl: ).

You'll have a ball, you and your children - enjoy planning !!!

I'd agree with Elaine in that the rides shouldn't give you to many problems, the only problems I could foresee is if either child doesn't want to do something, you and the other can't either - there are no "child watch" schemes at DLRP.

With toilet stops I'd take both in together, you don't say whether they're boys or girls, but no-one is going to bat an eyelid either way, if you all go in the ladies. It takes a little more organising on your own and you have to be a bit more frugal with the packing, although the little ones could always have their own small pullalong cases.

I enjoyed my time immensely at the NPBC, I'm it's biggest, sometimes I think I'm it's only fan. :confused3
Sequoia Lodge I've stayed at twice but I don't like the hotel itself, although I've just priced up my October hol there, my boys like it though, as you have said, there are mixed reviews for both hotels and you will get the same mixed response on here.
With your younger children I would probably say go for SL and a Montana Room to minimise walking around the hotel itself.

Hi Kathryn and welcome to DLP DIS board :wave2:
We are a friendly bunch here so please join in on any other thread or if you have a number of questions then just start a new thread for each :goodvibes

If you have not had a look yet, DLP posting rules are here, DIS posting guidelines can be found here.

The rides you will not be able to go on are basically too severe for your children :)
We've ben going for many years and only now going on some of the coaster rides. We definitely had plenty to do and did not feel that we were missing anything :goodvibes

No, I don't think you're mad at all. I can't wait until my youngest is about 4 & then I will be able to head off without my husband who isn't as Disney mad as me (only another 3 years to wait!).

I have stayed at both the Sequoia Lodge & Newport Bay. The Newport Bay is a bit further to walk - but just by a few mins. The advantage of Admiral Floor is that you can have breakfast delivered to your room (at a cost of 10 euro I think). Also they have a dedicated check in desk, so you don't have to queue as long. But the flight from Belfast is always very late getting to CDG, so the numbers checking in won't be as bad. Also Admiral Floor guests do not have to pay for swimming towels at the pool. The swimming pool in Newport Bay is lovely, but I haven't tried the one in Sequoia Lodge.

Nice to see a fellow Northern Irish person on the boards.
