NEWBIE looking for a bit of help

Ok here is what I know:

There are 8 adults and 4 children planning to visit WDW from 1/2/05 to 1/7/05...

I am interested in a Grand Villa that can hold 12 people...

My question is since I heard it is hard to get a reservation for one of these grand villa's how can I find out if one is available before I actually purchase some points?

I was looking at OKW as the resort

Do you mean you want to do a one time rental from a member or that you want to actually join DVC? If you'd like to do a rental, you get in touch with a member (through this board is one way to do that) who can check availability (or may already hold a reservation) and they will come to an agreement on price with you.

If you aren't a member, what you really are renting is a reservation made by a member. Renting points would do you no good since you cannot make a reservation yourself.

Checking in on January 2 and out on January 5 would be 36 points per night or 108 points for the reservation. Plan on paying between $10-$15 per point for the reservation.

You can definitely find out about availabilty through a DVC member. Make contact with an owner on this site who wants to rent and then communicate with them. It should be fairly easy.

You are smart to inquire early, bcs things fill up. I am sure if you are flexible, you should be able to get a member who will get you a reservation and rent it to you. You will pay most for a BWV GV, somewhat less for one at SSR and the great bargains (if you can call them that) are the lovely GV units at OKW. Check equivalent 2004 dates on the calculator above (does not yet cover 2005)) and estimate what you'll need for points, and see if that fits your budget. If so, go for it.

It may be too late for a GV at OKW or BWV. But OKW would be 180 points for the 5 nights and BWV would be 370. Saratoga Springs would be 335. You can probably figure about $10.00 pp so figure that out for yourself. Some one could check for you tomorrow if you are interested.

It would be smart to post another request on this board with the subject stating how many points you need, the dates, and resort. Early January can be popular since the point totals are lower, and especially with a GV at OKW.

I do have OKW as my home resort and I could check for you on the availability of a Grand Villa for Jan '05 tomorrow if you would like. I currently have 300 points for sale at $10 per point. Are you looking for Sunday (1/2) thru Friday (1/7) - checking out on Friday or staying Friday night? The difference is 180 pts vs. 268 pts if the Friday is included in your stay.
