Ok So we are heading to Wonderful World of Disney on Mother's Day for our first family trip with my 2 ds's (6 and 9). :cool1: :Pinkbounc After much research and endless hours on this wondeful site I was getting so stressed :earseek: over planning our trip that we have decided to just "wing it" and go with the flow each day. We have made a few PS but that is about it. That being said we have a PS at Chef Mickey's for 11:30 on Monday. Epcot has it's EMH so we were thinking of heading to Epcot for a while and then hopping onthe monorail and heading to Chef Mickey's. Is this a good idea??? Secondly how much time should I allow to get there in time for our PS???

It is recommended that you arrive at Chef Mickey's at least 10 minutes prior to your priority seating time. That means that you would want to be at the Contemporary by 11:20. The monorail from Epcot to the TTC takes approximately 15 minutes, then you have to switch to the resorts monorail to get to the Contemporary. On your way, you will stop at the Poly, the GF, and the MK. Depending on how many monorails are running on the resort line that day, it could take you another 15-20 minutes to make your way from the TTC to the Contemporary. To be safe, you could walk out of the gates of Epcot at 10:30 and have plenty of time to make it to Chef Mickey's.

I'm trying to remeber how long it took us to get from Epct to Chef Mickey's....it seems like it took us 25 minutes from Test Track to Chef Mickey's, but then looking back that seems kinda short...maybe it took longer...but it really seems like when dh and ds got off Test Track I said we have 10 minutes make our PS and then we were 15 minutes late, so that equals 25 minutes. Ok, I'm just thnking out loud again. BTW, Test Track is not the best ride to get on before a PS. A 15 minute wait can turn into a 45 minute wait. I'm not sure what's up with that. I hear it breaks down often.

Anyways, what I really wanted to mention is that Epcot to Chef Mckey's isn't a straight shot. You will board the monorail to the TTC and then catch a different monorail over to the Contempory. This caught me off guard for some reason. I had no idea I would have to switch trains. Also, just another note, see if there is room in the conductors car. My ds and dh got a kick out of riding with the driver. DS got to honk the horn.

So you will want to return and not think you wasted your money, it is a very good idea to just have a basic plan of where you want to go each day or what you want to do. You can always toss the plan to the wind if you want to. But you can really waste a bunch of time each day asking "Where do you want to go today? What do you want to do today?" Just plot out a park a day at a minimum. Have a few ideas of where you might want to eat, make a PS the day before if you don't want to make any now.

If nothing else, have the two kids decide where you are going each day with a list of the attractions you want to experience for the day. Give them the task of making the daily plans. I bet they will love to do that. If you haven't gotten them a copy of Birnbaum's for Kids, get one and let them be your travel agent. :goodvibes

To get to Chef Mickey's from Epcot, you take the monorail to the TTC. Then you could also take the direct monorail to the MK and walk over to the Contemporary Resort from the MK if you choose to. The direct monorail to the MK will drive through the CR right by Chef Mickey's and you can see if from the monorail.

I have to agree have a basic morning mid day and evening plan - just the park and major things to see you will regret not having a basic plan because everyone will waffle there is too much overload. One person (even the kids is Ok) needs to be in the driver's seat- with a basic plan- we always have too many adgendas- don't stress my advice plan around emh go for it or avoid it like the plague but choose - then pick a park have fun but please have a little plan!
