Hey! Headed to WDW in March and wanted to do a day at Universal for the 12 year old HP fanatic. However none of us like thrill rides. She hates Space Mountain. Can someone please explain this rid to me? Looked through threads but couldn't find this specific one.

Forbidden Journey is an intense motion simulator that will lift you up, move you side to side, forward and on your back for a few moments... you're constantly swooping and moving around between screens and animatronic scenes. The vehicle moves along a track (slowly), while your seats are attached to the track via a robotic arm. It's a thrill ride, but it's not as rough as Space Mountain (which I honestly find more intense than coasters like Hulk!). But there's definitely a lot of movement! I would suggest looking up ride videos on YouTube :)

Has your daughter ever seen Sum of All Thrills in Innoventions at EPCOT? The ride system is the same except it is basically SOAT on a track. It can be thrilling because the entire time you are suppose to be "flying". Through out the ride you face a dragon, another the spiders, the whomping willow, and dementors.

Also as a note if you have any sort of motion sickness you might want to take your medicine or wear sea bands on your first go around. I have had a few friends with motion sickness tell me they felt like the were going to get really sick on the ride because you are constantly switching from "digital" to "real" meaning going between scenes on screens and those that you physically go through a room of animatronics.

My 9yo hates thrill rides, but he liked FJ. It is a little intense, but different than a lot of roller coasters because it moves differently and you are focused on watching the storyline. He did it multiple times and he "really" does NOT do roller coasters beyond, "Goofy's barnstormer". :thumbsup2
He did do "Flight of the Hippogriff" over and over. It is the same intensity as "Goofy's barnstormer".

Also, if you decide FJ is too intense you can still go through the que and exit before the ride portion. Hogwarts is an attraction in it's own right.
The ride part was less intense for me after I had ridden it a few times. My dd rode is 3 times in a row and turned green, lol.

I am just the opposite.
I am fine on coasters - my favorite is Manta at SeaWorld and I LOVE Space Mountain and consider it pretty tame.
I CRIED like a baby after going on FJ. :rolleyes1The giant spiders set me over the edge and I will not go on it again. The rest of my family was fine on it though.:thumbsup2 I will admit that I still keep one I closed an my ears partially blocked on Haunted Mansion though, so you know what a wimp I really am.:rotfl:

OP- Whether or not your DD decides to ride, there is so much detail in WWOHP that I am sure she will love it.

No matter what you decide to ride, be sure to take the castle tour only line. When you enter the castle and get past the locker entrance you will find castle staff that you can ask to take the castle tour only. I always take a castle tour on each of my visits so I can just relax and take it all in. There really is so much to see and hear as you walk through the castle before you get to the ride. This is the only way to really get the most of what the castle has to offer without the ride.
This ride also has a single rider line, I use that alot.
