Hi all, am new to DIS & have just discovered these forums.

Been DVC member since 2012 having signed up on the spot on my first ever trip. I am obsessed with all things disney!! Currently planning 2015 vacation (haven't gone this year *sob* due to the birth of my second daughter in June) so am super excited and it's great to see some disney enthusiasts in the UK!

Hi There.

I'm sure you will pick up loads of brilliant tips on here and meet lots of nice people along the way.:goodvibes

Lucky you on the DVC front, wish I could persuade my other half to go for it but no luck yet. Maybe this time :)

Welcome, its nice to have you join us. Happy Planning! and congrats on the birth of your baby:cloud9:

Hello, :wave2:, We have been to WDW every 3 to 4 years; these boards help me through the years when I've no Disney to look forward to :).

Welcome and congratulations on the birth of your daughter. Which DVC resort did you buy into? What are your plans for 2015?

Thanks everyone
We have points at Animal Kingdom and the Grand Floridian.
In July 2015 we are doing 10 nights AK and 4 nights at VGF but are taking my mum, sister and the inlaws, so hopefully everyone will get on!

What is everyone else's plans? Anyone else going in July?

Has anyone ever been for Christmas? Would love to go one year

We did July this year but next year I think it will be August.

Been 5 times at Xmas, magical time to visit but we can only go Xmas thru New Year which is the busiest week of the year.

Ooh you lucky thing! Which hotel is best to stay in?
What happens on Xmas day? Do they do special meals etc? Are the theme parks closed? Or is it business as usual?

Hotel choice is a personal thing, one Xmas we stayed at the All Star Movies, I will now never stay in a value Disney resort again, didn't like it at all but others love the values.

No special meals as far as I know but we have only been in for a couple of hours one Xmas day, our first day is usually Boxing day or the 27th, I am in retail so have to work right upto 4pm Xmas eve.

Parks are open every day, Xmas day is one of the busiest days of the year.

Yes the parks are open on Christmas. We went in 2009, flew out on the 25th, NY in WDW is amazing

We were there for Christmas in 2009 also, against all advice we spent Christmas Day at MK and had a wonderful day. We booked breakfast at Crystal Palace in order to get in early and take photos in front of the castle without too many others there (a plan which would have worked if the monorail hadn't broken down but at least we weren't too late for breakfast) then had a late lunch at Tony's, quite a change from our traditional British Christmas lunch but it was lovely. It wasn't even that crowded at MK, it kept raining heavily which helped keep people away but we're British, we're used to rain!

I also went at Christmas but way back in 2004, it was the best Christmas I ever had. I loved it. We stayed at The All Star Sports at the time and loved it as my daughter was very much into Sports then. Christmas day was spent in Hollywood Studios and Boxing day was swimming with Dolphins at Discovery Cove:goodvibes

Thanks for sharing all your experiences. I can only imagine the crowds but disney at Christmas I think is a must on my bucket list! I've been looking at the Floridian as some reviews say it's very Christmassy but very busy as everyone goes to see the impressive gingerbread house!
