Hello from Ohio. Planning a trip for April 2011. Any suggestions on where to begin my research? There is a lot of threads on here and I would like to find some good starting out threads.

I am not sure what to expect to spend on the trip but one reoccurring theme I am seeing on here people trying to save money. Can anyone point me to a thread on what to budget for? I have no idea what to expect but I am sure it can add up fast.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Welcome! Where are you going to stay? You might want to start researching the resorts board and disney tips board. Enjoy planning your trip:surfweb:

Well, April is the height of Spring Break Season, so you will be paying higher rates for that time of year and there usually aren't too many discounts during high crowd times. WDW has three levels of resorts - value, moderate and deluxe. If you want to stay on-site for the least amount of money, then you would want to book a value resort. All-Star Movies is our favorite value resort.

For a family of 4, a weeks stay at a value resort during peak season, with 6 day tickets and the basic dining plan should run you around $2,900.00. Staying moderate would run you about $3,600.00 and staying deluxe should run you about $4,300.00 to $5,300.00 and up.

There are tons of good WDW planning websites, but I do like www.mouseplanet.com for there resort descriptions and pictures.

We are a family of six, so we usually get two connecting rooms at a value resort. It's the most economical way for us to stay on-site. Also, we try to tour in low season, such as September or early December. We've gotten the free dining discount/promo for our last three trips and it has saved us about $1,600.00.
