Hi everyone... I've been perusing these boards for a while now, trying to soak up as much info as I can (we are saving our pennies to buy a dvc membership thru resale!). It's all starting to make sense now...but for the life of me I can't figure out what "bump" means! :)

I need some veterans out there to fill me in!

When you see "bump" in a post, it's simply a way of pushing (or bumping) the thread back to the top of the page. Whenever a new post is added to a thread, the thread goes back to the top of the page.

Welcome to the boards!

A discussion thread will move to the top of the list whenever someone posts to it.

Say someone starts a thread.... but he/she doesn't get many replies, and it falls down the list, or even off the 1st page.

They will post a reply to their own thread, and often simply type "Bump," meaning they are "bumping" it back to the top.

HTH....

There is a special case on the Rent/Trade board that the OP of a thread MUST bump it to show they wish to keep their R/T active. On that board, threads not bumped are considered abandoned and are automatically locked by software.

That's why you'll see a lot of 'bump' posts on the Rent/Trade board.

Now, before you ask, OP stands for "Original Poster". This means the person who started the thread.

So, if someone in this threads mentions the OP, they would be referring to "MustHaveMickey" who started this thread...:teacher:

The red X seems to have showed up since the move to new servers. I think they are tied to the signature banners that are there for people.

I have them even though my banners still show.

ETA. Which are not even showing now.
