Hello all...
Hoping to get some input from the veterans, so will x-post this over a few boards.

This board was recommended to me from a parenting site I like, so I'm sure you guys are the real deal when it comes to knowing how to have fun at WDW.

I am traveling the end of Feb (the weekend that ends President's Day week) to WDW and think that after studying the Unoffical Guide to the point where I could ace the test, we are set on the Polynesian.

I will have 5 yr old twins at that time, one has autism.

Could anyone recommend what rooms to book specifically to be close to the monorail & pool, yet away from most of the noise? (or is that impossible)?

Also, I'm so very wide open to any tips you might have on the WDW experience. I've been to the "land" once, but it was ~20 years ago. Never to WDW.

Thanks in advance for your time & responses!!!!

Mater's true love,
Doe-Reen

This may sound self-serving since I have a link to my trip report in my signature, but reading trip reports was my favorite way to get tips.

You can post questions and you will most always get an answer, but reading the trip reports will give you little tidbits that you wouldn't think to ask - and it will get you REALLY excited about your trip.

There is a DISer named Tikiman that has a website dedicated solely to the Poly. I don't know the link, but I'll bet before long, someone will post it. It is known for having all the Poly details you could ask for.

Happy planning!! I can't wait to book our next trip so I can plan, too!!

Welcome to the DIS, I am giong to move you over to Theme Park Strategies, I'm sure you will find lots of different advice over there. Plus you can get a special badge for your son with Autism. Have documentation from your Pediatrician and go to Guest Services and they will tell you the benefits of the badge.

You might want to check out www.allearsnet.com . Under "Planning", there is a section down the right hand side called "For Special Needs Travellers". She has a section under that heading called Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD). She co-wrote the Passporter's Walt Disney World for Your Special Needs. It might give you some extra tips! :goodvibes

Here's the direct link: http://www.allearsnet.com/pl/dis_aut.htm

It does list the Poly as a good resort choice for a child with autism!

I would higly recommend the DISabilities forum on this site. We first took our autistic son when he was 8 and had a blast (though not without some trials). Got great information from that forum that helped immensely.

Have a great time!
