Hello! I've been hovering around for a while but now my wedding is all booked (WP Oct 2012!) I need some help... Sago Cay was booked for the night of my wedding so we've gone for marina patio. The dessert menus that i've been sent aren't really what i'd want and prices start at $35++ per person. I was really hoping to spend about $25 and get specific bits I think my guests would like. Has anyone done this?!

Thanks :)

Hi! :goodvibes
I'm also planning a DP for this October at the GF. I had the same feelings as you. After seeing the menus my planner sent, I decided I'd rather customize a menu. DF and I came up with a list of our favorite desserts at Disney World (eg Brown Derby Grapefruit Cake), and sent those to the planner. We told her the price point we wanted to stay around, and selected desserts to fit under that price point. Just discuss it with your planner, and I'm sure you can create a lovely menu for $25 pp. Best of luck with your planning!!!

Yep! We did a partially custom dessert menu as we didn't care for some things on the menus, and wanted to add in some of our favorites (Oreo Bon Bons from Cape May!)

Just talk with your planner. :)

Don't forget to bring plastic bags or boxes to take home all the left over desserts in! We were eating left overs for a month.

I believe the lowest you can go is $23/person.

We're doing an IllumiNations dessert party with a sundae and floats bar. Still don't know the price yet.

As long as you meet the overall food and beverage minimum, you can go as low as you want. For example in Epcot, where the f&b minimums for each venue work out to $23 x the minimum number of people required for that venue, you just need to spend $460 at a spot with a minimum guest count of 20. You can meet that through any combo of food and drinks. If you had 40 people, theoretically you could spend as little as $11.50 on each of them and still meet the minimum (but good luck finding food that cheap - LOL!).

Similarly, in the Marina, you just have to meet the overall food and beverage minimum, and drinks count toward that. :thumbsup2

Carrie your explanations are always a breath of fresh air. As I read and re-read every email from my planner trying to break down prices, it's always a jumble. I wish they could put it in the same terms like that. I am an over-organizer who has to have everything in it's column and everything has to add up to make sense. Im a spreadsheet freak, lol. Thanks again for always having the answer, this Disney Bride appreciates it. I read your book, and look at your website frequently, so thank you.

First I want to echo this sentiment!

And add, we are having a private (not wedding) dessert party. We were also told we could adjust the menus to our taste, which could affect the cost pp. We mentioned ice cream cookies (like the bakery on mainstreet MK) and were told we could probably have something like that. ... Ours isn't until this coming Nov. so sorry no help regarding photos.

I was thinking of doing an Illuminations dessert party with about 50 people and doing only an ice cream station, which I believe is around $10.00+ and would allow me to meet the F&B minimum. (plus the $75 attendant fee) Would that be possible?

Sounds like a good plan! The only thing I can think of that might be a problem is if they tell you your location is too far from the kitchen to have ice cream, but I see ice cream at lots of different locations, so it's probably not an issue. :thumbsup2

I just returned from my PS and I'm waiting on the BEO to find out what our DP choices will price out to, but I was wondering what everyone else chose to have at their DP (ice cream seems popular, but our date is January and ice cream may not be a great choice then).

Also, our planner recommended to choose 6 items. I was wondering what is a good amount of treats to offer? I'm expecting to have around 40 ppl.

Thanks!
