Hello all! I am Amanda. I just found these boards and have had a blast reading all the info so far. My hubby and I along with our 2 year old are planning our first Disney trip and could use to tips. :cheer2:

We found a great deal though Mouse Ears Vacations and just wondering first off if anyone here has used them before..
Here is what it looks like we will get.... 4 nights at Port Orleans Riverside, 3 day Park Hopper tickets for Sept 6-10. Total with tax is $788. Any thoughts?

Also would love to have some opinions on that resort. Is it well worth it? Which part is best to stay in? From the pics it looks like the AB part is not as nice as the other. Any bldg I should request?

Also, any other tips? This will be a budgeted trip so I know we will be looking for cheaper dinning and we will keep things in the small fridge in the room as well. We will have out 2 year old with us so any tips on things he will enjoy? Pricing on souvoneirs? Like the Mickey ears hat for him and such??? Can we enjoy Downtown Disney with him??

We are sure looking foward to going. We LOVE anything Disney and collect every Disney dvd, the snowglobes and other Disney stuff so it is about time we finally get our butts down there..hehe

Any ideas would be very appreciated! Sorry if I posted this in the wrong area. I was not sure where I should put it.

First I suggest you go to www.allearsnet.com and www.mousesavers.com
I stayed at Port Orleans Riverside from April 29th to May 7th,in the Mansions section..I wouldn't say Alligator Bay isn't as nice,I just prefer the style of the mansions more.
POR was beautiful.. I liked it better than my stay at the Contemporary.. You will love POR.. I'm not sure how your price is. I payed 89$ a night with an annual pass discount

Thanks so much! I had looked at the Mouse All Ears and that was where I found the link to the Mouse Ears Vacations. From what I have read so far from there it seems good. Just wondering if anyone has used them though.

Also just love to hear tips from others who have recently been. :)

Dh and I stayed at POR on our honeymoon. Like the other poster, I wouldn't say that the mansions are better than the AB section, just different. I heard someone describe it this way before and it really made sense - for the mansion section, think Gone With the Wind; for the AB section, think Huck Finn. Whichever one appeals to you more is the one you should request. As for mansion buildings, I don't have a particular preference, but we stayed in Acadia House and it was lovely. If you plan on taking a stroller to the parks, which I assume you do, you might want to request to be near a bus stop. It'll just make things a bit easier for you.

As far as Mouse Ears Vacation - I haven't used them before, but have heard of others who have without any problems. I personally like to use dreamsunlimitedtravel.com. They offer the same services, but are the board sponsors. I'm planning my fourth trip with them and couldn't be happier with what they have to offer!!

For budget dining I suggest sharing some meals. Dh and I would often order one/two appetizers and one entree and share it. Saved us some money and was just the right amount of food.

I'm not sure of the price on kids' Mickey ears, but I believe the adult ones are about $10. Definitely get them at Le Chapeau on Main St (it's in the courtyard on the right as you walk in MK). They'll put names on them for free there, whereas other stores charge extra. Another great souveneir I love is postcards. We buy one a day and detail what we did that day and send them back to ourselves. For just a dollar or two a day we have some great memories!!

Hope you have a fantastic time!

If you want to check prices also try WDWVacations.com. They are the Disney specialists recommended by mousesaver.com. They saved us $800.00 last year. Also made all our dining reservations. Great people and service. Best part is that it is all FREE!.

My family, including my then 4 yr. old daughter, stayed at POR in Dec. 2003. We requested, and received, first floor, corner room in the Alligator Bayou, Bldg. #14. We loved the location. It was closest to the food court (a short walk is nice when you're filling those refillable mugs) and also fairly close to the pool. Being Dec., however, we didn't use the pool/jacuzzi as often as we normally would. The nightime temp was about 40-brrrr!.
As we had our own rental car, we didn't consider bus stops when choosing our location. I like the AB rooms since they have the extra trundle bed. We were a party of 3 adults and 1 child. Also, it was a short distance out the door to the river and feeding the ducks. I thought the Mansion buildings were quite a walk to Food Court. Just my thoughts, hope it helps. 66 days to go!!!! :Pinkbounc
