Hi, WOW! These boards are so incredibly helpful, but I have to say I'm a little overwhelmed with all the information. I figure, though, if I can implement 30% of the suggestions, I'll increase our enjoyment of our visit a hundredfold.

We're visiting in early May. We're primarily going to eat our own food due to pickiness, vegetarianism, and food allergies.

I'm trying to figure out the best way to get food to our destination. We're staying at a resort, chiefly so we do NOT have to rent a car. That makes going to a grocery store in Orlando difficult.

I saw a post about a grocery delivery service, and I wondered if people could share a little more about that. I'd love to be able to get some fresh produce, and I hate to say this, but a good stash of diet coke. :) Does anyone have any recommendations about grocery delivery? We'll be staying 8 nights.
Thank you!

I plan on using Garden Grocer. I heard lots of rave things about them on the boards. I know there is a minimum order (can't remember how much) but with water, diet coke, and breakfast food for the week I know I made the minimum.

Hope that helps:)

We always use gardengrocer.com and they are wonderful.
We have never had a problem with their products or their services. One of the nice things is that you don't have to be in your room when they deliver your groceries. They can leave them with Bell Services and then you can call have them brought up when you are ready.

The minimum order is $40, but that will add up quick. There is also a delivery fee of $12, I believe. You can visit their site to get a feel of what they offer.

They will also shop for beer and wine for you if you so desire.......

We just don't believe in grocery shopping when we are on vacation, so this service really helps.

Hate to hijack but we plan to use GardenGrocer this trip as well as it's our first DVC stay. How many days ahead of time do you order???

I am kind of anal about making sure that I have everything planned out for when we get to Disney, so I usually order about 4 weeks ahead of time. I like to make sure that I can get the delivery date and time that is most convenient for us.

Once you have your order in, you can make changes to it by simply calling them on their toll-free number if you need to.

All good advice. I did want to mention how many times I have read posts from food allergy sufferers and vegetarians saying how WONDERFUL Disney was accomodating their needs. Most reported that the chef came out, confirmed their needs asked their preferences and then made a custom meal to suit! I am not sure how comfortable you would be with this - but wanted to pass it along!

I agree! I have been a vegetarian since I was 7, and my son has a slew full of allergies. And we have always had our needs met. I mention it when I am making ADR's (for my son, not me- I can always find something off the menu or just ask for a dish without meat when ordering).
