Newbie going Dec 30 - Jan 2nd needs help!

We are going to Universal from December 30 thru January 2nd staying at RPR. Our group includes me (41), DW (40), FIL (63), MIL (61), DD (16), DD (7 1/2) and DD (6). What rides are not covered by FOTL? Are there certain things we should attend before the crowds get too big? Especially for the younger 2 DDs? As a Loew's member, what should I request at RPR? Do they have adjoining rooms? What's a good room location? Any recommendations for fun dining?

I've read many threads on this forum but my head is spinning for the amount of information I am receiving!
