Hello all! Wow, this is an amazingly huge place! I am Heather and my family is planning our first family trip for October of this year. Dh and I have been talking about taking the kids for years and it is finally here. THE year! We are going in October b/c it's Epcot food and wine fest, it's my dd's bday and soon to be dh's bday, it's less crowded (right?):confused3 and b/c we can. I am a homeschooling mom and we are trying to go when the weather will be nice but not too hot and not quite as many folks to share everything with.
That being said, my dh and I went for our belated honeymoon in '99. We stayed 10 days at Coronado Springs and found it to be a slice of heaven. This time though, we feel we would like to be a little closer to Epcot and MK.
I had no idea about discounts or pin codes or any of the like when we went 11 years ago. We booked thru a travel agent and had ourselves a fantabulous time!
Looking forward to learning more here and hopefully planning the best first visit for our children. We all can't wait! :cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

How come people will post to a thread with no comment? Is there some prize for having the most number of post (even if you're not really posting)?:confused3

Hi momof3lovebugs. DOn't be surprised but it can be VERY hot in October. I thought the same as you, so we booked last year, and boy was I surprised. It was in the 90's. It also rained quite a bit, it is still hurricane season. If you are going the week of Columbus Day be prepared for more of a crowd, not terrible, but definately more crowded. The Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween party is alot of fun! The parks are decorated quite cleverly for Halloween. At the HAlloween party you do pay an additional fee, but I think it is well worth it, and believe it or not many people dress up. We didn't because I just didn't know, but if I ever go back at that time I will definately dress up along with my familiy. It is a fun time of year, and heat and rain can never dampen a day at Disney, it's all about the magic!!!!

Warmest Greetings and Welcome Home!! My mantra is anytime at Walt Disney World is a great time.:cool1: That being said, we went to WDW in October a few years ago and got A LOT of rain. I don't know if its hit of miss:confused3 with the weather that time of year, but we got soaked 5:scared1: out of the 8 days we were there.

Thanks for the welcomes!! :goodvibes I am now worried about the weather but when we were in July it rained too. We even had a hurricane siren go off when we were at Typhoon Lagoon! :scared1: Needless to say it was nothing and we went to a theme park that evening....
We will just have to roll with whatever weather is there b/c that is when we are going! :dance3: We have Mickey slickers from when we were there last time!
I am just trying to keep myself occupied w/other stuff until then. :rotfl:
and trying to keep going to the wdw website to hopefully get a pin.
Any advice on which areas to visit here first? I was hoping to take my dd to the Bibbidi bobbidi boutique but looking up the price was a little dismayed to see how much it is. Since we are hoping to be able to afford a deluxe resort, we'll have to see how much budget is left for $$ extras.
Thanks!!! :flower3:

Welcome!! Definitely hit the codes & rates board... that will help you keep an eye out for any great deals that may come out for Oct. Trying for a PIN is another great idea (that 40% off a deluxe is a great savings!). Consider a TA again, as they will keep an eye out for deals as well, and also help you make ADR's for dining, and even BBB ressies if you see you can swing the $$. A little hint: do the cheapest package, and take your own dress. ;)
