newbie first DVC booking need advice

We are new BWV owners just put in the system ( bought resale through TSS-AWESOME experience) called member services and no availability for BWV 1 bedroom during our days of 11/26-12/3 ( knew this was a possibility due to late time of booking) was offered OKW or SS. I have never seen either resort first hand but have read quite a bit. Went with OKW first floor 1 bedroom - requested near Hospitality house but that was a no go too
This resort looks huge and I am a bit concerned-we will not have a rental car. How far is it to the ferry for DTD and what is the bus service like. Any other information you can share would be so helpful. I am second guessing my decision.

You can hop a bus to get to the HH area. The 1 bedroom are hugh. We have enjoyed our stay there in the past. Don't worry it will be fine.

Denise, Thanks for the quick reply. Was disappointed that I couldn't get BWV. I checked out the availability thread here and it looked like it might be possible for 1 bedroom around our dates (but I guess not everyone reports if they can or can't get availability). Do you think it could be possible if I called again to check maybe in a month or so? (thinking possible cancellations?)

FYI - you don't specifically reserve first floor, it's just a request. Most of the 1 bedrooms are on 1 or 2. I own at BWV but have stayed at OKW many times, the 1 bedrooms are large. I always said if they could put the OKW rooms in BWV's location, it would be perfect.

Did you get on the waitlist? Any cancellations will go to the waitlist until 30 days before the date.

Those threads might be good to see what is not available, rather than what might be available. Not many people post there and certainly not all 300,000 members.

Just put in a waitlist request (you can have two active waitlists).

You can always hop a bus from any location and go to the HH area to catch the boat to DTD. You are only 10-15 minutes away from anywhere on foot at OKW. I've never had a problem with buses at OKW. And we've stayed there at least 12 or more times since 1998.

It's OK to call MS. You are not a pest!

Ask to waitlist a 1 bedroom Pool/Garden view - that category has the most rooms of the 3 available for 1 bedrooms at the BWV. It will use a few more points than the OKW 1 bedroom. If the waitlist comes through, MS will automatically cancel the OKW reservation and reuse the points for the BWV reservation.

You could wait list for half your trip, and also wait list for the whole trip. Two waitlists. If half comes through, you could remain on the WL for the full week but would still get to stay at your home resort for a while and try it out.

No, you don't want to be moving every other night. You would have no place to go during the day if someone needs a nap or just a break.
