Love our fanny packs! There are 7 of us and all of us have our own. Each of the kids have little snacks in theirs like: suckers, granola bars, fruit snacks, etc. That way I don't have to hear the "I'm hungry!" voice as often. I put the little wedding bubbles in each pack. They also each have a different set of mini card games. Uno, Go fish, Old maid, face cards, matching game. It keeps them busy when waiting.
Comfort and convenience are key! I have a really bad back and the fanny pack doesn't bother me at all. Wearing a backpack purse or messenger bag (purse freak...I have a large collection) while I'm just going to the grocery store for 15 minutes totally bugs. I would have to pop some serious pills to go all day wearing one. And this is how I'd look...
We wear stuff at Disney that I wouldn't be caught out of the house with normally. I don't care so much about the look. Actually, I don't think it looks bad.
We will be bringing a backpack and a soft sided cooler as well this trip, but the plan is to get a locker every day to put those in.
The things that I put in my fanny pack are: advil, pen light, little ear plugs for youngest child, park tickets, license (I.D.), credit card, lip stuff, hard ginger candy, walkie talkie, cell phone, little digital camera/recorder.
The things I put in the backpack are: sweatshirts (November gets a little chilly at night), sunscreen, water bottles, ponchos, oldest son's flip flops for wet rides (he likes to wear skate shoes at the parks-not the ones wth wheels), light sticks, snacks to replenish fanny pack stashes, band-aids.
