Newbie borrowing question

Have read some of the flagged posts, just want to validate that I'm reading this properly.

I have a Sep UY. In Mar 2021, I booked a stay at our home resort for Feb 2022, using my 2021 UY points. Since the stay occurs in the same UY that the points come from, it doesn't count as borrowing? Even though I booked the stay prior to Sep 2021?

Yes. It isn’t when you call, but when you travel. So the trip is in your 2021 UY, it is not borrowing.

But if you cancel that trip after your banking deadline ( October 31), the points from that March 2021 use year cannot be banked and will expire on February 28, 2022.
