Newbie Booking Question

Purchased into SSR with a June use year (50 pts).

I'm planning on using my DVC for the first time in July 2012. I called in and made a reservation using only 2011 & some of 2012 points. If I wanted to upgrade farther, could I leverage 2013 points now (for travel in the 2012 use year) or do I have to wait until June to gain access to use those points for a reservation?

You can borrow 2013 points now for a stay on or after 6-1-12.

Yep, if you can book a 2012 trip, you can borrow 2013 points for that trip. Points always exist. I can logon to DVCmember and see 2014 points (which is good to know because after borrowing, I only have 2 points in 2013 )

You almost have to create your own calendar. Your new year starts at the beginning of your UY. So for a June UY, your calendar goes from June 1 to May 31. That is your year for booking. Any banked points from the previous UY could be used or any borrowed points from the next UY could be used (as well as current year points).

Easiest way for me to know what I can use is to first figure out the UY I am traveling. Then I go from there.

So, with a June UY, a July 2012 trip falls in your 2012 UY. That means you can use banked 2011 UY points, 2012 UY points, and borrowed 2013 points to pay for the reservation.

You can always do this at the 11 month window at your home resort and the 7 month window at the others.
