Newbie booked at Poly- TTC ???

Hi all,

We are going to be staying at the poly for the 1st time and I know that it is more convenient to walk to the TTC and take the monorail to Epcot, but are there any additional benefits of having the TTC nearby for other transportation options?

Is it better to catch the poly bus to DS and AK, or walk to TTC and take buses from there (not sure they even run from the TTC)?

Same ? for Downtown Disney?

Also, what are the best options for going to visit another resort, ie AKL? Do buses run from the TTC directly to resorts or only to the parks?

Any info is much appreciated.

TTC is good for getting to Epcot and ferry to MK, to get to other resorts you will need to transfer at the parks or downtown marketplace.

From the poly, there are buses to AK and Downtown. Take monorail to get to GF and Contemporary (as well as TTC) To get to Wilderness Lodge, you'd go to MK, then transfer to boat to WL.

I'd rely more on transferring at the parks or downtown rather than catching bus fromn TTC.

When you check in, they'll give you information in a pamphlet called "YOUR HANDY GUIDE TO ALL THE MAGIC". It has a big Mickey hand on it.

If you want to visit another resort the best idea is to plan a day in the nearest theme park. For the AKL plan a few hours at the AK. If you want to visit any of the Epcot resorts (Boardwalk, Beach/Yacht clubs, Swan/Dolphin) you can easily walk from the International Gateway of Epcot. There are also boats from the International Gateway that stop at these resorts and continue on to the Disney Studios. It's a slow boat ride but very relaxing.
I never recommend someone trying to get directly from one resort to another unless they are nearby like the Contemporary or Grand Floridian in your case. Disney transportation is not set up for resort to resort service. Their main goal is (as it should be) tranportation to the theme parks.

There are no buses to DTD from the TTC. You can catch one directly from the Polynesian.

Thanks for your responses. I will probably only use the TTC for EPCOT and use the Poly buses. We had planned on going to AKL the same day as AK so that should work out, too.
