So I finally got a computer fast enough to run VMK :cool1: and I signed up last night. But I was sort of afraid to join any games because, well, I stink at that sort of thing :teeth: . I didn't want to ruin anyone elses fun. The game I was looking at was the Haunted Mansion one. After that I went looking around... I saw a hidden Mickey in one area, what am I supposed to do with them? Take a picture of it maybe?

So what is a good place for a newbi to start getting credits? Is getting credits a good goal for me?

You'll never get better at the games unless you play them :cheer2: . Doesn't matter about winning or loosing it's about having fun. Yes you take pictures, the quest costs abour 2,000+ for film, exactly 2,000 credits if you don't make any mistakes. You win the gold prize pack (gold turnstile, gold generator, ect). Welcome to VMK!

I find the Pirates of The Caribbean to be most fun. They just bumped up the credits on all of the games so you joined in at a good time ;) . There are also NPC's (non-playing characters). You visit them once a day (or to times if you manage time), double click them and you will recieve credits. For the first time visit, you get 40 credits and a pin. Every visit after you will recieve 20 credits. The three ghosts are a little tricky to find. It is good to build up your credits so you can buy clothes and furniture, really being creative ;) . The fireworks game is a bit longer as there are 5 levels and 3 rounds in each level. The jungle cruise can be long or short depending on how well you do. You can buy a camera at VMK Central on Main Street. Once you get in, double click the pirate poster and you should open up the VMK Central store. In each of the stores, double click the cash register to open up that specific store (i.g. you can only buy from Shrunken Ned's by first opening the store, then after you don't have to visit the store in order to shop there. Just click on the shop button at the bottom of the screen. However, for the specials, you will need to visit the store). You can win invisibilty by winning ten games of level one and level two of Pirates of the Caribbean. You have to visit the Captain Blackheart and he will give you the magic. Fireworks magic can be won by getting 240,000 in the fireworks game and not come in first! Inferno is very rare and can only be obtained by VMK hosted events. Teleportation is obtained from the tomorrowland quest at the real parks, not in the game. The only magic you cannot trade is the Pirate costume, Cursed Storm, and Buried in Treasure.

Well...I think I have already said too much for one post lol. :rolleyes1 I hope all that helps! :thumbsup2

Suggestion: DON'T do the hidden mickey quest until you have credits to spare -- it's expensive, and the only thing you get out of it are some virtual pins and a PDF you can printout to redeem in a real park for gold objects.

Read the Player's Guide for some tips.

But to earn credits:

- visit the 8 non-player characters daily (or every 12 hours), for a total of 160 credits

- learn to play haunted mansion; win or lose, you earn 5 credits per ghost; winning earns you bonus credits. Don't feel bad about not being very good. Think of it this way: if you are bad, your teammate will get to scoop up more ghosts and get more of the 5 credits/ghost; the other team will have a better chance to win the game and get the win bonus. Meanwhile, you'll be getting better. So, everybody benefits.

- for now, pirates is paying decent credits (50 / 100 / 150 credits for wins ONLY, at levels 1, 2, and 3 respectively), but it's difficult to start a game because it's so popular just now (because lvl 3 wins are giving an ice chair)

- if you are GOOD at reflex games (I stink), fireworks game pays well

Welcome to the DIS and VMK!

Check at the Players Guide at the top of the board some of the info is now a little outdated with all the stuff that happened yesterday but still a good place to start....

oops sorry Be you just said that...I got sidetracked while posting ;)

Hi HaleyB! :welcome: I've seen you around the Dis boards many times - Welcome to the VMK board!!

Don't worry about "stinking" at the games. You can't be worse than me! LOL! I had a very hard time learning how to play ghost because I knew I wasn't any good at it (one player on my team rudely told me I stink and that I should leave the game! LOL!) But I stuck with it, and now I'm an okay player. :)

Let me know your VMK name and when you'll be on. I'd love to join you for a game of ghost - we can play together over and over so you can get the hang of it. I promise I won't yell at you and say you stink! LOL!

Fireworks, you are playing alone which takes the pressure off. But I can't seem to get the hang of that game - come in last place most games. And Pirates, well, I don't even want to go there..... lol
