Newb question re Canon PowerShot A610

I've had this camera for years & am embarrassed to say I never use any of the settings other than manual. I have an event tonight that is "no flash photography"- I can't find the manual - where do I go to disable the flash?

On my A560, you push the flash button on the back of the camera and cycle through until you get a picture of the flash icon with the slash through it. I am not sure if you can set it to disable it long term. Once you turn the camera off, it might go back to the 'auto' setting and you will have to disable the flash again.
