Jeff

Absolutely. I am in charge of an awards banquet tonight, but I'll try to do that tomorrow.

Just spent 45 minutes labeling all my FE gifts :goodvibes I am so ready now...I hope:rolleyes1

Wow! I'm so jealous of how prepared you are.

Is anyone else booking your next cruise while we're on this one ? The me and the DH are thinking about booking Alaska for July 2013

I'll be booking a dummy cruise as it will probably be 2014 before we cruise again.

We're booking the 2013 Med cruise :)
I went on the Alaska cruise last summer, it's tons of fun and it's beautiful up there!

Also planning on booking a dummy date to be moved for a 2014 cruise - it will be my 50th birthday present to myself:goodvibes! (After an internal debate, I DID tell my DH my plans for this:joker:!)

The Magic left PC this afternoon heading for New York.

Cool, isn't it?! The Magic should arrive in a few hours!

Brownzee, can you post the ages of your crew and how many rooms? Also, if family is gluten-free or just one member......
THANKS from your FE groupies!:goodvibes

I am planning on booking July 29 2013 to Alaska. This is the only week that works with my work schedule. I just don't know what type of room. I have been following the discussions, but it doesn't really help. I think I will wait to see how we feel about having a inside room on this trip. I would rather spend less money on the room so that I can spend more money on excursions. I would also like to do a couple of days in Vancouver. I am afraid that if we get a balcony, I will want one on every cruise. I am also afraid if I don't get a balcony, that we will be sorry.

We didn't have a veranda on our Alaska cruise last summer, but I would DEFINITELY want a porthole, esp if the cruises are leaving out of Vancouver again. What I hadn't realized before our cruise was how beautiful the journey up to the ports is. You travel up the inside passage and it's absolutely gorgeous. We were there in late May, and there were snow-capped mountains on *both* sides of the boat. On the Tracy Arm day, my daughter had a complete meltdown and my husband and I ended up taking turns sitting with her in the cabin while she rested. If we hadn't had a port hole, we would have missed lots of the fjords.

So it's not like sailing to the Bahamas where there's just open water -- the journey up there is as beautiful as what you see at the ports.

In retrospect, a veranda would have been nice, but we had a KSF offer and took what we could get. I'm just glad we were able to go!

Thank you for the information. I was leaning towards a large porthole room. When we sailed on the Dream we had 2 large portholes. It gave us so much light. I understand your comments on the scenery compared to the Bahamas. I do wonder if we get a veranda if we will use it enough to justify the cost and if I feel that I am missing something on the other side of the ship. Lots to think about.

Is on side of the ship better than the other as far as seeing the scenery?

Is on side of the ship better than the other as far as seeing the scenery?

Well, it depends on the route they take. Last year, they pretty much went up and back by the same route (the first night, we did jog around an island on the outside, and it was a little rough. I'm not sure of the name of the island -- I think it's a national park and uninhabited), so it was beautiful both sides the whole way. But I have noticed the route changes from itinerary to itinerary this summer. The ones that are leaving from SEattle seem to be out more over the open water and heading into the Inside Passage later. I haven't looked at the 2013 routes though. But any time you are actually in the Passage, it will be lovely on both sides.

I'm late to the party, but looking forward to NYC cruise to Canada! Probably too late to join the FE party, however still excited to drop off some goodies for "locals" on Deck 6! See you on board in a few weeks :)

Helpful Tidbit of Information (from joius24)
On all of the cruises I've been on so far if you go to the spa and get a little orientation at the beginning of the cruise then you get a raffle ticket and they do a drawing for a bunch of different spa services at around 3:15 ....the catch is you must be there when they draw to win

Welcome to the group Cathy. I listed you above in list of everyone going. If you tell us more about your party, I'll update it to reflect that. We are planning to meet on the first day, and would love for you to join us.

The FE signup is over; however, I'd be glad to add you to my list and bring something by your room and give you my information via PM if you want. Just let me know. (I'm not on deck 6 though)

Just to let every one know I put the ages up for how old they were at the time I sent the message. There ages are now DS Matt 15 , DD Sarah 11, DD Olivia 9, DD Emma 6, DD Isabelle (Belle) going to be five in July, DD Ruth 2.

Olivia has the Gluten allergy.

I updated the spreadsheet to show this information.

I updated the FE with a column for each person specifying if each room is in group 1 or 2 (or both). If someone has time, please check me as I am on my way out the door to my sister's graduation so am kind of distracted.

Have a great memorial day weekend everyone.
