New York, New York

I know someone said they have a child/children with them...in which case the ToysRUs in Times Sqaure has a full size ferris wheel inside and on weekends they have all sorts of demonstrations going on - magic tricks etc - which is fun. Also FAO Shwartz on 5th.

There's a little zoo in Central Park.

There's a virtual reality ride around the streets of NYC in the Empire State building v.amusing - ladies wear a firm bra as you do bounce around rather if you get my drift LOL

A wander around the ground floor of Tiffany's to gawp at the jewels - several b'days here I see maybe the DH/DW will get generous :)

We did a ride on the Staten Island ferry - just went there and back without getting off - which got us out of the cold (it was Feb) but we could see the Statue of Liberty etc and have a sit down.

I love walking around Greenwich Village and Soho.

Book yourself in for a nice Sunday brunch somewhere and have a few mimosas.

The bar at the uber trendy Mercer Hotel does nice Cosmopolitans if you want to check out where Robbie stays in NYC or pretend you're in Sex and The City;) But go in through the hotel entrance and then entertain yourself watching people trying to enter the bar from the street and negotiate the heavy leather curtain in a cool way LOL

Now you've made me want to go back to NYC as soon as possible :)

Hi

Just wanted to add my tip for NYC. The Circle Line Ferry...... you can either go on a full or half island tour. I'd recommend the full island tour, takes 3 hours but well worth it. You just go all the way around manhattan and it's great because the top of the island is so much different from the main part of the city. 3 hours is obviously a long time, and I don't know how it would be in winter as I've only ever been when it's really hot but you might want to consider it.
Cirlce Line Ferry

I am getting quite jealous and want to go back myself now.......

Hi Mark - Glad the trip report was of help!

Oh yes, beware of those shops!! Have a look in Tiffanys just to gaze and wonder who on earth buys such expensive things!!

We caught a yellow cab from Newark to our hotel with no problem from taxi rank just outside the Airport. It's only a small airport and doesn't take long to get through. I'm afraid I can't recall the cost but seem to think it was about the $40 to $50 mark.

Thanks!

Even though I've alreday been there are some great new tips here:bounce: :Pinkbounc

Once again thanks to all of you who have posted, just makes me so much more excited.

Oh NYC I just love the place, have just come back from my 6th trip and it is just as good every time.

One place to eat is the Empire Diner, this is excellent and you can get to see some celebrities if you go on the weekend, we have seen Robert De Niro, I couldn't eat I was that excited. The diner features in all of Woody Allen's films and was in the start of Men In Black II. The food is excellent, although not like usual diner food, I always go for the stir fried chicken on a bed of rice.

As someone else said, the Planet Hollywood in Times Square is great.

One of the best boat rides is the Beast, and this is a speed boat that goes as far as the Statue of Liberty and back again, but I think it is seasonal, and it gets very cold.

You must do the helicopter tour, this is really good.

I found that the Brits Guide to NYC is very good and has lots of helpful hints in it.

Oh I am sure you will all have fun, now I want to go back.

Helen
