We had checked in on line the night before in the hotels Business Centre, it cost us though! $6.80 for a few minutes use and $10 for printing 4 boarding passes. We had our last breakfast before clearing out of our room. I had yet to buy a gift of a New York mug for my brother in law, he had specifically asked me for a NY mug so couldn't go home without one! I hadn't seen one I liked, I'd only seen really tacky ones so we called in a gift shop stocking tee shirts, magnets, posters etc and found quite a few mugs to choose from. I eventually got a very nice one with black and white printed photos of some of the major tourist spots, SOL, Chrysler Building etc. Bought myself a tee shirt and couple of fridge magnets and Glen had a couple of souvenirs. The boys had asked to go back to Central Park for the last few hours, unfortunately it was a dull morning so not as picturesque as our first day in the park.
Saw a pink dustbin lorry supporting breast cancer, only in NYC.
Saw some filiming going on, it was a boy and girl arguing and her storming off and him chasing after her scenario. Don't think its a major Hollywood production though. 2 actors, cameraman and the director (presumably).
We came across a guy making enormous bubbles so the boys had a go.
Called in at the Apple store again and realised FAO Schwartz was behind it so called in to see the Big Piano.
Loved the 5th Avenue window displays, this shop used hundreds of balloons for decoration.
Hadn't yet tried New York Cheesecake so had some for lunch, delicious but sickly.
Back to the hotel to wait for Carmellimo to pick us up at 3pm, watched the basketball game on TV while we were waiting, it was the match we had seen at Madison Square Gardens the night before.
Got to the airport far too early (but better than being late). We planned on eating here but it had a really poor choice. MacDonalds, a place with Chinese food or the newspaper stands with crisps and chocolate. Didn't fancy anything so just had the biggest cup of coffee I've ever had and then felt sick afterwards!
We saw our aircraft coming in to land and being cleaned, that's how long we were there!!!
Nothing to mention about the journey home, can't remember watching a film, tried but failed to sleep! All I can remember is a fair bit of turbulance and Ashley throwing up as we came into land. None of us ate anything, the first time we flew with Virgin in 2007 I thought the meals were quite nice, but every flight since then I've thought how horrible the meals are. We soon had our bags back and then the fun of trying to find the car in the car park, the bus drove past where we wanted to get off so we shouted to the driver and he moaned that we didn't press the button to stop the bus and he'd have to go all the way around again! Wrongly we assumed he would stop at all the stops as there's only about 3 of them and no signs saying 'press the button to stop the bus' signs - oh the joys of being back in the UK.
That's it folks, next one hopefully is California and Las Vegas, so now off to spend my time reading other peoples trippies and the planning forum. May take a couple of years to save up but we'll get there one day, Glen has now got a part time job in the catering unit of the local hospital and is earning more than me with all the hours they are asking him to do so I've told him to start saving up as if he wants to come he can help towards the airfare :d:
