We went to NY in 2003 and had a wonderful hotel near the United Nations building but next time we want to be nearer Times Square. So my question is can you recommend any nice 4* plus hotels in that area? Looked on Trip Advisor but want some expereinced Disser's opinions.

Don't know what star ratings both these get but we have stayed at the Novotel at Times Squares which had a great view straight into times Square, so much so that we left the curtains open at Night just to keep looking at the View.

This time when we went we stopped at Hilton Gardens Inn Times Square, which was one block across from Times Square, a smaller Hilton Hotel, but very good, could not fault the service or standards, free coffee in the morning and not to far from the action.

Of the two I preferred the Hilton Gardens Hotel.

Ive also stayed at the Novotel and it was brilliant, it had the most incredible view of Times Square. It was the perfect lcoation and everything was in walking distance. Would def recommend it. :goodvibes

It's a few years since we went to New York but we stayed at Radio City Apartments and couldn't fault them. They are just around the corner from Times Square and within walking distance of all the major attractions plus they have the kitchenette you will be used to from DVC resorts.

My favourite NYC hotel is the Marriott Marquis on Times Square. I love the location, the revolving roof top restaurant, the friendly staff and the fact that it featured in the movie True Lies... :goodvibes

Ooooh, where to start!

We own at the Hilton Club, which is linked to the Hilton Hotel at Avenue of Americas. It's about 10 minutes walk to Times Square. The hotel itself is not mega luxurious, but club level is fabulous - the lounge is really elegant and there are absolutely incredible floor-to-ceiling windows looking out over the city and Central Park. They serve breakfast, afternoon snacks and hors d'oeuvre in the evening with a cash bar. You can usually get a one bedroom club level suite here for about the same (or less) as a regular room in one of the more up scale and renowned hotels.

We also enjoy the Ritz-Carlton at Central Park. It's right near Fifth Avenue but a little further from Times Square. The room rates are pretty $$$ but the staff are absolutely awesome and the service really is incredible - you get champagne and hors d'ouvres while checking-in and the staff member takes you to your room personally. IMO it's worth the premium to get a park view room.

The Mandarin-Oriental is great but it's harder to get good deals than other places. You can get rooms overlooking the Hudson and the lobby is really high-up with some awesome vistas. We always have to make a reservation at the Asiate restaurant because the food is incredible!

I think that the Plaza is a little overrated, but having said that we haven't been there since their huge renovation a couple years ago so it might be a million times better now. Location wise, it's really central - though it's a little further from Times Square. Four Seasons has always been great and both times we stayed there we got upgraded, despite not being "frequent" guests or anything. It's got a great spa and fitness centre too...

Personally I'd recommend the Hilton club level the most. It is a bit generic being a Hilton, but the location is awesome and the value-for-money is definitely top-notch compared to other similar hotels. Don't forget you can get VA flying club miles too! There's another Hilton in Times Square itself, but we've never experienced that one. Might be worth a look if that's where you want to be, but definitely check out the club level prices because they tend to be pretty good value for what you get.

I can link to a photo tour too, clever clogs!!! :lmao: :rotfl: :lmao: Clicky clicky... ;)

We stayed in the wellington back in 2004 and would not recommend it to anybody. only good thing about it was that it was nice and close to time square and central park.
We are hoping to go again next year so this also helps us in finding a better hotel. right next to macys would be great lol

We stayed in the Metropolitan which was 3* it was on Lexington Ave, just along from Bloomingdales. It was £80 each for 3 nights, a bargain. It was a nice hotel however they have undergone a major revamp & the prices have been hiked up.

Thanks for all the replies :)

We've stayed at a couple right on Times Square (The Renaissance & Hilton Garden Inn Times Square) and also at The Roosevelt which is just by Grand Central Station. Would recommend any of them :)
