Hi

I will be in New York for an overnight stay in October and I was wondering what I could do for approx 7 hours - 4pm - 11pm. There will be 9 of us in total, 4 adults, 4 teenagers and 1 x 8 year old. Any advice on bus trips, sightseeing tours etc would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance from Scotland.

New York City, or NY state?

If it's the city, I have a few ideas:
1) Times Square. The teens might enjoy the view of MTV studios, and I don't know anyone who doesn't love the huge Toys R Us complete with a Ferris Wheel and Candy Shoppe! There is also a Planet Hollywood which is nice because it has all different memorobilia from movies, and musicians. It's pretty cool, and the food is good (expensive too!)
2) Do some shopping on 5th ave! The teens will probably love this, and the adults should too. Only concern there is for the 8 year old.
I'm not really familiar with any sight seeing tours or anything, but you can probably find info online! I see a lot of the double decker red busses-I think they are called Big Apple something?
Central Park can also be a lot of fun...Or maybe the Village if the teens are a bit more alternative and like funky stuff? I'd be happy to give more info, so feel free to PM me!
I also think the Rockefeller Center skating rink is open in October, there are a lot of really nice shops around there too (do not forget the infamous Saks 5th ave!)
PM me for any info!

Hi and thanks for the info.

Its an overnight stay at Newark Airport so I think Manhattan, Times Square etc will be great.
