Well, it's almost here: 2007! Has anyone given any thought to what their resolution(s) might be for the New Year?

For instance, I'm planning to:

1. Make better use of my time w/my children!
2. Get back to reading. I've let that good habit slide as of late. Gotta get back to reading 2 books each month.
3. Control spending on unnecessary things (like my $4 each latte
habit! :guilty:
4. Clean up my language. Really, the nuns who taught me for 12 years of Catholic school would be horrified....

I'm interested to know what others are planning to change or introduce into their lives. popcorn::

I don't make resolutions. It just makes me feel like a loser when I break them all. You feel better about yourself when you keep your expectations low. ;)

Next year, I want to stop being hurt and depressed when my friends make bad choices. I HAVE to remember that I can not want something for them, that they do not want for themselves. :thumbsup2

My number one goal for the New Year is to get back to dieting and exercising.

When I was first diagnosed with diabetes I started doing both, and it no time I'd lost 40 pounds and was feeling great and looking better than I had in years!

But! I got lazy and eventually stopped. And gained 18 pounds back! :(

I want to get those 18 pounds off (hadn't weighed myself since May, stepped on the scales a few days ago and haven't gained any more thankfully) and another 15-20 by summer. And get back to exercising and walking 3-4 times a week.

I'm going to be FIFTY in August, and I want to be "50 and Fit" not "50 and Fat!"

Plus DH is giving me a hot air balloon ride for my 50th birthday, and I want the balloon to be able to rise!! :thumbsup2

The only possible resolution I can think of is to TRY to get thru another year without becoming cynical. Life has not been very kind to me this past year and it's becoming extremely hard to be positive.

For the first time in my life I was successful with my resolution when, for 2006, I resolved to exercise more. Here it is 11.5 months later and I'm still doing it.

I think 2007 will be more difficult. I want to bank my whole paycheck and have us just live off of DH's. If I can swing this I might be able to afford remodeling the kitchen in 2 years.

Nah, not going to bother. I made one last year and I'm proud to say that I fulfilled it by January 17th. But I don't have one this year. Usually my resolution is to not make resolutions, and I've been pretty successful at those.

I am going to get back to exercising. I was going religiously for about 10 years but stopped 2 years ago when I hurt my foot. I have had a couple of other injuries since then that have derailed me. I have gained about 30 lbs (looks like more since I have lost muscle). :guilty: I want to get back to a more reasonable weight for me.

I have decided to put forth more effort into my marriage and into being a better wife to my husband.

I have focused almost exclusively on my children for the last 7 years. They are older now, and much more self-sufficient than when they were smaller. It's DH's turn to get some of that attention. Besides, in another 12 years, my children will be out on their own, and I want to make sure my marriage is still happy and fulfilling.

1) I want to give my family a makeover. Basically I want to spend better quality time as a family and revisit/update some of the way we do things.

2) I want to redo several rooms in my home to make it much more comfortable for us, including the backyard.

3) Get a new puppy

4) I want to visit WDW more than once next year if possible.

I am turning 40 next year, so I have a list of 40 things to do in 2007. I am excited to get started.

mickeyboat: You sound like me! I'm going to pirate your resolution and add it to my list. My poor DH has really been back-burnered too!

Chattyaholic: Congratulations on losing 40 lbs!!! (I may have found about 5 of 'em!!! :lmao: ) Even if you did gain some weight back, that's a pretty big accomplishment!!! :thumbsup2

To stop saying the "f" word and to not be so uptight about certain things.

My entire family has decided 2007 is the year to stop frivolous spending of our hard earned money.

We tend to purchase FIRST and think it through SECOND. Now we are planning on doing the reverse.

We are going to THINK SERIOUSLY about SAVING our money.

:dance3: :yay: :dance3: :yay: :dance3: :yay: :dance3: :yay: :dance3: :yay: :dance3:

BUT not until we return from Europe on January 4th...... :lmao:

i don't do new year's resolutions. i find myself disappointing enough without setting myself up for it.

Well, last year was particularly stressful for us, I had to deal with cancer, a hysterectomy, etc. So, I learned from that it is just not worth it to stress over stuff. We need to live life to the fullest because we never know when we won't be here anymore. So, I want to continue the change that I've already made - don't worry and don't go through life not doing something because you're afraid.

One other thing I REALLY need to get a handle on is not obsessing about my weight. I'm 5'3 and about 115 lbs, a size 4. Yet, I constantly worry about gaining weight and look at myself and think that I could lose a few lbs. I need to decide that this is my body (2 kids later, one a c-section) and this is how it's going to be and I need to embrace it. Am I the only one that is very hard on themselves as far as their appearance goes?

I'm sorry, I'm rambling and you all probably think I'm nuts. Anyway, those are the changes I'll be working on for 2007.

Proof that body image is in the eye of the beholder. I'm the same height and about the same weight as you and I still worry that I'm too skinny. :grouphug:

I think I can speak for a good portion of DISers who would tell you that you most definitely are NOT alone in being hypercritical of one's own appearance!!! The SHORT list of things I'd like to change about my appearance - well, it's not short!

I guess I'll tack that intention onto my list of things to do in '07 - stop knocking myself down over the way I look (unless I'm going to actively work on changing it in a healthy way.

(We now resume regularly scheduled posting on this thread.....)

I want to stop worrying about the little things and stop stressing so much! I need to learn to enjoy things instead of worrying!
