I am not sure if I am posting this in the right place.

I was wandering if anyone has gone at New Years, and how it was. Is there any special things going on at this time? Any special tips.

Very very busy. Shut MK down several times was stuck for 4 hours in one place. CMs said that normally there is about 50,000 people there during any given day but New Years Eve there was over 90,000 people there. That being said. They have special things going on at MK an additional Spectro parade and 2 fireworks shows their standard Wishes and one to bring in the New Year. Which was incredible. Not a bad spot in the park for the one to bring in the New Year. Xmas decorations are still up. Lots of bad attitudes from CMs to park guest to even me. Fast Passes for rides were out by afternoon for the whole day on alot of the rides. Space Mountain had 90+ min wait.

Anyone have any good experience?

What if you do not go to MK, are the other parks as bad? We were going to go the first week in July but due to DS school schedule we need to go 12/30-1/6. We really want to see the Christmas decorations, maybe we will just stay in our room on New Years :sad2: .

Are there any good restaurants to see the fireworks from and if so what is a good time to make an ADR to make sure we are there for the fireworks?

Not sure about MGM but I heard Epcot was just as bad. Another option instead of staying in your room New years Eve is maybe staying at the the Beach Club or maybe the Yatch club you can watch Epcots fireworks from the beach. Or one of the other resorts you can watch MKs fireworks from. As far as New Years Day we went to Epcot and it was dead until around noon time we actually thought the park was closed.

We were there for NYE, we opted to skip parks on that day and spent the day touring the delux resorts then went to the campfire sing-a-long at FW. The crowds were more than we wanted to deal with as our youngest is 7.

If you go, I have heard EPCOT is not as bad as MK, get into the park early and plan to spend the day. Take your patience hat and enjoy, I have heard that people really enjoy the festive atmosphere.

Great, we do not mind skipping the park if we have to. Anyone know a good restaurant to see the MK or Epcot fireworks from that are not in the parks?

Anyone else? I would really like to find a restaurant to watch the fireworks from. :cool1:

We have never been during New years, but; I would really like spending New Years Eve at WDW. DW is not as excited about it, she feels its too crowded, too expensive and wants to be home for the actually holiday. Maybe some day.....

Have been there twice for NYE - had to go a 2nd time b/c there was a downpour that lasted most of the evening the 1st time. Both times we spent the day at Epcot and got some of the major attractions (TT, M:S) done early before the crowds got really bad. We made ADR's for lunch and dinner b/c we saw people being turned away for TS restaurants without them.

Watching the fireworks from a restauant outside the park might be tricky - California Grill is always the best option for MK, but I imiagine for NYE that it's very popular. And there really isn't a restaurant outside Epcot that you have a good view of the fireworks. But if you eat early and walk the Boardwalk you can catch the higher fireworks from Epcot - but since a good portion of Illuminations is in the water, you miss that part of the show. But check for times for the fireworks b/c when we were there they had an early show around 7-7:30 for families with younger kids that wanted to get back to the resort.

We were lucky the first year - even though we went back to the resort, we were able to see the midnight fireworks from Epcot, MGM, and PI from our room at the Swan.

Thanks for all the great tips. I am sure no matter how busy it is we will have fun no matter what we do because its WDW!! :dumbo: :simba: :figment: :sulley: :tigger: :donald: :mickeyjum

Since New Years Eve is one of the busiest times at WDW I know there have to be more people out there who have experienced it. Anyone have any stories or tips to share. Things you would do again, things you would never do? party:
