We have been to Florida at Christmas before but never stayed over New Year. We won't have tickets for WDW but will have SW tickets, although we won't necessarily have to go there on NYE.

Do you have any suggestions on what we can do. Any personal experience of say the Boardwalk, Disney Springs or Celebration? Any advice or suggestions welcomed :)

The Boardwalk is great on NYE. The BWI set up a DJ on the village green and they also have champagne stands dotted around the Boardwalk. It does get busy but the atmosphere is really good. There are some great spots to watch the fireworks from the Studios too. We normally book a meal at one of the Boardwalk resorts and then spend time counting down to the New Year. We did attempt during our first visit at NY to visit Epcot - never again!!

Thanks this is the kind of information I was looking for. I expected everywhere to be crazy so a meal would be good, perhaps somewhere like the steak restaurant? My DD looked at the Atlantic club but she's not old enough yet as you have to be 21!

We've eaten at YSH, Flying Fish and Beaches and Cream on NYE - all were good although we did book at 180 days on the dot. We also tried the Rose and Crown and booked it for 7pm Florida time so that we could celebrate New Year twice! We really enjoy the Boardwalk atmosphere.

One year we went to the GF and watched the fireworks at MK from the GF beach. We ate at Citrico's and then had a wander around the hotel before midnight. The only difficulty was getting back to the BWI as we had to wait ages for a taxi.

We now plan our evening based around the resort where we're staying.

Great suggestions, we have eaten at Citricos on Christmas Day and are considering options for this year as well. Have you tried Captain's Grille at all?

Also, for NYE we quite like the look of Shula's steak house, have you been there?

Thank you for responding :goodvibes

We've never eaten at the Captain's Grille but have friends who rate it highly.

We love Shula's. I think it has some of the best steaks on property. The service has always been excellent when we've eaten there too.

We're there at Christmas but unfortunately are coming home before New Year. We're doing a split stay at the BWI and CR - can't wait!
