I have a friend that is going to Disney for New Years, & she is new to going to Disney, so she wants to know some ideas of things to do there. She has asked the travel agent with Dreams Unlimited for suggestions & was told there wasn't anything. I know that there are people on here will have some suggestions!

Thank you in advance!:goodvibes

each park does something special for New Years, fireworks, party hats, etc well not AK though. At Epcot the countires have dance parties and they have a special buffet. MK has panoramic fireworks. Pleasure Island has something but i'm not sure if it'll be open or not.

stay at your resort all the resorts give awaynoise makers and hats the amount of people in the parks is crazy trying to get ut of the parks even worse the parks are filled early i mean like noon especially epcot

Well, I certainly wouldnt say there is nothing special to do - lol...

I was there last year and we had a ball. The crowds are huge - but if you go with that in mind and just enjoy the atmosphere and celebrating with everyone you will have fun!!

They do warn you about getting into the parks early, especially EPCOT. We did go early, but if you did want to risk it, we totally noticed that between 4-6pm there is a tiny bit of a changeover - people with younger kids leave, allowing others to get in. If its important to you to see Spectromagic or to see the fireworks from a certain spot, stake your spot out EARLY! People start saving their spot bout 2 hours early on mainstreet - lol~~

I also have heard that some of the more $$ restaurants have some special dinners that are really $$ but people told us they were awesome.

Some people were actually really dressed up for NYE!! I got my hair "pixied" at the barbershop, and then all day people would ask me about it and lots more adults got their done that day too!!!!

HAVE FUN!!!!!! Its a blast - and if you can force yourself to get up early, on January 1 at least until noon the parks were pretty empty....

We've been on NYE too and had a blast!

I agree - whichever park you choose (I loved MK most) go with the idea to just have fun, maybe ride something with a FP, get your hats/ noisemakers when they are passed out and have fun

Standing on Main Street is like standing in Times Square but oh so much more fun cause you are at Disney - but it is seriously wall to wall people worse than any other single night/ day I have been on any other holiday. So people with mobility issues/ strollers (like we had) need to just relax and plan for longer waits.

Don't rush to transportation right after midnight. Stroll around, give it an hour and you'll get right home.

Whatever you choose, have fun!

Totally agree with PPs, it is very crowded, we've done Epcot for NYE for several years. We went with the mind set to go with the flow and have fun, we also had strollers, took our time getting around and just had a blast! We picked up snacks and sat down about 10ish to wait for the fireworks.
We've usually gotten there around 2pm, we also did not rush out, we walked around the shops and took our time getting out of the park.
have a great time!!

We spent New Years at EPCOT last year, we had a fun time, but it is very
CROWDED and I do mean wall to wall people. We arrived at 10am and stayed till after midnight, had dinner at Nine Dragons which was great. It took almost 1 1/2 hours to leave and get back to OKW via the buses, which was the only a minor problem, but all in all it was a blast. (But I dont think we would do it again) just because of the crowds.

I don’t think anyone posted about this…. But be careful you don’t get closed out of the parks! They do shut down when they reach maximum capacity. I recommend the Magic Kingdom… simply because the fireworks are amazing!

I have one thing to add... If your friend plans on eatting TS in any of the parks make sure she has ADRs. We were there one year for NYE and overheard the restaurant CM's telling people there were no TS tables available in all of WDW.

We were at MK last year for NYE! It was crazy...wall to wall people, just when you thought you were getting somewhere, they would set up barricades to direct traffic. Some people were shoving and rude....that being said, I would do it again in a minute. The atmosphere was wonderful, hats, noise makers and the most amazing fireworks display!!

So, go into it knowing you are facing crowds and just go with the flow!
