New Year's Eve Strategy?

I have reservations at BWV (our home resort) for the two days prior to and following New Year’s Eve but am currently waitlisted for New Year’s Eve. I’m confident we’ll clear the waitlist (based on messages I’ve seen on this board), but if we don’t....does anyone have any suggestions for how to deal with the interruptus? Cash res at the resort or another WDW hotel? Rent enough of those little runabout boats for the family and just float around ‘til the following morning? This may be idle strategizing, but I try to do at least 11.75 month’s worth of actual or idle strategizing for our annual DVC trips.

MM1102 ,

Welcome to the DIS!!!!!:D You should make ressies at another resort (on or off-site) just in case your waitlist doesn't come through:( .Keep your fingers crossed and hopefully it will come through for you.;)

Welcome to the Boards! Glad to have you join the rest of the compulsive DVC planners.:)

On NYE, you can camp out on the floor of our OKW room.;) ;) JUST KIDDING!! (Now don't all of you start a big capacity thread out of a silly comment.)

I wouldn't be surprised if NYE becomes available, but I have to agree that you should make a cash reservation as a back up.

Are you waitlisted only at your resort, or will you accept any DVC on site? My guess is that you might get into another DVC resort if not your own.

NYE was the one time the waitlist never came through for me...even waiting right up until 12/31. I would make a reservation somewhere now to have as a back-up.

I have a different kind of New Year's Eve strategy question. We are booked for Sunday before New Years to Friday afterwards. We are not sure what to do New Year's Eve. I know everywhere is going to be jammed. What would veterans suggest? Which park? or should we go off site to escape the crowds? (Anyone ever done that?)

Thanks for your suggestions.
