I'm going to be making our NYE reservations soon, and I was wondering if anyone else has made any, and what your experiences have been. Have you been able to get what you want? Do you think I will have a better chance if we go early, like 5pm?

Also, the Norway princess dinner, I just want to make sure that the princesses are there for the dinner, and not just the breakfast.

TIA

The princesses are at Akershus for bfast, lunch, and dinner.

I am a local and would NEVER brave the parks on New Years so I can't answer that question for you. But good luck with that!

Our 90+10 window opened on 9/27 so I was able to make all my dining ressies online. For NYE we will be at Epcot and we have a lunch ressie at Tutto Italia at 12:10 and dinner at LeCellier at 7:10 (both for 2 adults and 2 children). I did make my reservations at 5:30 AM (Eastern time) so there was alot to choose from. We love NYE at Epcot and plan on going in the morning and staying all day. It is very, very crowded but there's no place we'd rather be. :)

LOL Thanks a lot!!!! LOL

I remember some friends went on NYE back in 2006. I think they were able to get in to Le Cellier for a late late (maybe 10:30ish or so?) dinner as a walk in. So you may have some luck if you don't mind eating late. Most people are probably going around and enjoying the festivities by that time.

I called 7am Saturday morning and got just what we wanted ... Rose & Crown for lunch and Teppen Edo for dinner! :thumbsup2

Can't wait!

The Princess meal in Epcot is really a great way to break for lunch on NYE. If you can't get it for the evening, I would suggest a late lunch (like 1-2 pm). You'll be ready for a place to escape the crowds by then! I would still make a dinner reservation. The lines for Counter Service restaurants are VERY long.

Thanks everyone for your replys.

We want to be in Epcot for NYE, but not to dine at Norway, tahts just another day, sorry for the confusion! As far as eating late, there are little ones in our party so that wont work for us (unless someone else takes them back to the house for us.....). Also, there are going to be between 15-17 of us, so thats another issue. I was thinking that maybe I could book several tables at one restaurant, but then, whats the point??? The point is to be together for NYE dinner, not all over one restaurant. Personally, I don't think its going to happen, but I have to try. Maybe I'll make reservations for as many as I can, then call back the next day, and try and get more, etc. What do you think of that idea??

We ate last New Year's at a special buffet they had in the event location between Canada and Great Britain. It was called Fantasia 2009. Decor was great, food was wonderful. You have to ask for for information when you call , then tend to not give this as an option until everything is sold out!

We also ate lunch at Chef's in France however they were serving their dinner menu all day and it was a little hard to have a full dinner for lunch then go to the buffet. We were hoping to have the sandwich, soup, creme brulee prefix lunch we usually get and would have skipped this had we been told in advance that the special New Year's menu would be served at lunch.

You will need to be in the park by 10AM or stay away!

I hope you have a great time....my most memorable experience was the buffet dinner. The crowds were unreal and uncomfortable. We ended up leaving half way through the early fireworks because it was so unbearable!

You need to make your dining reservation through Group Dining (407-939-7707) because there are so many of you. I would call them today and find out when they open in the morning call them on 10/1 (90 days from 12/31) as soon as they open. For a party that large, I would shoot for the Biergarten (Germany) or Teppan Edo (Japan). They both have large tables which hold 8-10 people that would be next to each other. If you can't get inside Epcot, you can also consider Cape May Cafe. They have a back room that has big tables for large parties. I ate there with a group of 12 once.

Thanks so much for that information! :goodvibes

Personally, I would love to eat at Teppan Edo, but with this large group, we have narrowed it down to just Le Celcier (sp?) and Coral Reef. If we can't get either of them all together, we are not going to do any reservations at all. I (and as far as I know, everyone in the group) want to be in Epcot on NYE, and that the whole point of it, ya know? Like I said before, I don't think its going to happen (and personally I couldn't care less - I'm going to Disney on NYE for Disney, not the meal) and we can choose as individual groups to eat at these places on other days of our trip, when it will be easier to get reservations. I love Disney for the atmosphere and the food, but as far as NYE, I'm not going to go nuts if I can't get a reservation for 17. Thanks again for the phone number, and I'll be calling later today!!!!! :goodvibes

Don't hold your breath for Le Cellier. It is a small and very popular restaurant and my guess is that it is already sold out. Coral Reef is not really a good choice for a large group because of the way the tables are set up: http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/parks/epcot/dining/coral-reef-restaurant/ .

I would recommend that decide if you are going to book for 17 people or not TODAY. Don't leave the rest of your party hanging because you "couldn't care less". If you can't get the reservation you really want you will have to let the rest of your family know that they are on their own ASAP. Epcot dining will fill up quite quickly for NYE.

As I said, I am going to try and get a reservation for all of us at one of our decided restaurants. If I can get it, then great, if not, then we will be eating QS. The fact that I can "care less" is true, but really has no issue here. As I said several times, I'm still going to try, so its not as if I'm leaving anyone hanging. If I can't get anything, then I'll let everyone know, and they can do as the please. Theres really nothing more I can do.

This upcoming NYE is my 10th one. We have been a party of 7-8 for the past few years (we travel with friends) and I have been responsible for two other trips with 12 and 13 people. I know what I'm talking about. Your back up plan of doing Quick Service stinks. The "Quick Service" lines on NYE are anything but quick. Not only will you stand in line a long time your family will inevitably be separated while one group eats one place and the other group eats someplace else. Getting back together to celebrate will be difficult ... and that's the reason why you're going to Epcot on NYE isn't it? To celebrate with family?

It's perfectly OK to have preferred restaurants. I am just a little confused about how you are so willing to just throw your hands in the air and give up if you don't get exactly what you want. You should be aware that many people "in the know" who are staying at Disney resorts have already made their NYE reservations. I know I have. I would encourage you to have a longer list than just one restaurant (Le Cellier is most certainly booked), even though your family has not approved them in advance. Book Coral Reef if you can, but if you can't then book something else. Just tell your family that their top 2 choices were not available and you did your best. You can always call back and cancel if someone throws a hissy fit about your selection. You may not be able to get something for 17 people if you wait until later.

One more thing to brighten your day. Remember, arranging a vacation for a big group is like herding cats:

Well thanks so much for informing me that my ideas stink :thumbsup2

You are quite welcome.

Why even ask for advise when you shoot it down with snarky comments like that? Whatever ... if you go with the CS meals and you're trying to hunt down the other members of your party because you could not agree on where to eat and can't find them because the crowds are too huge and they can't hear their cell phone ring when you try to call ... you will stop and think of me and realize I was right :goodvibes.

I don't recall having any "snarky comments" at all :confused3

Personally, I think there could have been a better way for you speak, rather than saying that someones ideas "stink." On the computer or in person, manners always have their place IMO.

Anyway, I said thank you many times for the information that you, and others, have given me in my few posts, and I truely ment it. As far as only having 2 restaurants to choose from, yeah, thats all we have. We have about 16 people, and between everyone, there are allergies, and food preferences, and these were the only two that everyone could agree on (personally, I have no allergies, or preferences really, I love all types of food, and would have eaten anywhere, but the other 15 people are a different story!). Maybe that wouldn't work for you, or your group, but thats how it is with this group. I've also emailed everyone a few times in the last few days, and only one person has gotten back to me, so even if I wanted to change things up, or do whatever, I'm not getting any responces. As of right now, I'm going to do what I can about NYE dinner, and thats it. I asked for some experiences have been with others trying to get their reservations. If we can't get anything, we may go off site, or back to the house, or (since we have a house with a kitchen) bring in some food. If we don't get an actual "meal" at a sit down restaurant for this one day in our lives, its really not the end of the world. Thanks again for your input.

ETA Just because someone asks for opinions, and you give them, doesn't mean that they HAVE to follow them. I appreciate everything that you and others have said, but I have to put that to my own groups needs and wants. Taking it personally is silly.
