New Year's Eve next year?

what are the odds of being able to switch to a different resort at the 7th month mark for the week of news years next year? I am totally fine with being at our home resort VWL, but my DH would like me to try to book his favorite resort the poly. I just want to know what the chances are. Regardless we will be in Disney so that's all I really care about! TIA!!

Unknown, DVD may have declared additional units into the association and it's a new resort so we don't know the track record yet. If PVB is your favorite resort, why didn't you buy there?

January 1, 2017 will be a Sunday, making January 2 a holiday. Typically, it is very difficult to get a near park resort at 7 months out for any part of the New Year's weekend before Tuesday when January 1 is a Sunday. However, Poly is still an unknown and has a huge number of studios, and if there will be any chance at all for a studio at a near park resort for the time you want, it is likely going to be Poly rather than elsewhere.

I guess we will book the VWL at 11 months and try for the poly at 7 months and see what we come up with! At the very least we are in the MK area for New years! Woohoo!!

I see a possible add on in your future. That's how we started and now own 6 resorts.

You could always waitlist it - I did for Dec 22-24 and it came through! good luck

I would say your odds are very near to zero. I was able to get the poly for THIS new year's eve but only because it was the first year it was available and there were not many owners.

It has been my experience that doesn't matter. Availability at popular resorts at popular times dries up after the first year. The OP should still get on the waitlist. You never know what will happen.

So the plan is to book VWL and try for poly at 7 months or wait list. Or split stay ! I guess I will have to wait to see what I get! I hope the odds are in my favor but if not we love VWL (smells so yummy in the villas!) we will be in disney world on New Year's Eve which is such an awesome thing! I'll be happy either way!!

PVB is wide open from five months on, including during food & wine. If we were talking about the first week and f December, you might have a point, but over New Years? I'm 98.5% certain she'll have no trouble at seven months.

I also think the odds are decent. It's only a little more than 5 months until the 7 month window to book that. There will still be a lot of unsold PVB points even if they don't declare anything else. You'll definitely want to be online right away though IMO. And if it doesn't happen there are still worse places to be than VWL.
