New Years Eve @ Disney

Has anyone been to Disney for New Years Eve ....just wondering how crowded it is. Still here in Florida so may head back over to Orlando to check it out...let me know - Thanks

We have spent NYE @ WDW three different times. One time was at MK. A lot of fun but crowded. The second time was at MGM. They used to have live bands there. We saw REO Speedwagon and the party was a blast. The last time was at Epcot. Again it is crowded but we grabbed some drinks and walked around World Showcase and joined in at all the parties at the different countries. We had a blast. Be prepared not to do the rides/attractions but go to celebrate the New Year and you will enjoy it

CROWDED!!! Have done it many times though so obviously hasn't put us off!

We have done it once in 2002. Unfortunately, it rained all day and the longer the night went on, the harder it rained. We finally gave up the ghost around 10:30 so we didn't even make it to midnight. However, I had my favourite ride experience ever on ToT. During the ride, when the doors to the outside opened, a lightning bolt struck and the rain was pelting in. Talk about enhancing the effect!

We were at Downtown Disney tonight and it was quieter than we expected. Staff told us at 7:30 that Epcot still had not closed today, only MK. It is quieter this year than in the past.

We were at epcot last night. DJ's at 4 or 5 of the worlds. Really great light shows. If you can make it to midnight, Illuminations is played at 11:40 and then the countdown begins with announcements from around the world in the order each country rang in the new year with fireworks at each country. Then the big countdown begins with even more fireworks. It's quite festive and last night the crowds weren't that horrible. It's certainly a great experience and staying at Old Key West there were not huge lines to get back to hotel by bus. Bus went over the overpass which had long line to resort and we were back to resort within half an hour. I'd do this again for sure. Maybe when my kiddo is a little older so he can really enjoy the DJ's. Happy New Year!
